    Question Google Analytics

I understand that google analytics is used to keep a track on the traffic of ur website...

    Is there any other benefit?
Does it help in Google Page Rank?
Is there any better way to monitor ur traffic?
And what are the advantages of google analytics over other monitoring tools/services?

Google analytics wont help in increasing or decreasing your site's page rank and it wont have any effect on your site's rankings on search engines be it Google or any others.

Google analytics is the best free ones but if you are willing to spend some money there are a few others like cnstats pro produces some very neat stats and has got loads of inbuilt options but the draw back is the price is too high and you have to save your stats on your own server where as google analytics stats are saved on google's servers not ours.

www.indiabroadband.net also uses Google analytics and Its th best in my opinion.

itsmemad, if any such threads of yours go unanswered in future please send me a PM with the url and I will be happy to help you out.

    Thanks for the response...

Yup, I realised that India Broadband is also using Google analytics while starting this thread...

One more thing I wanted to ask... Does embedding Google analytics code increases the response time of a website?

Yes but its not a noticable increase. You might fine a difference if you measeured loading time with some script but to humas it hardly makes any difference.

If you have a look around even some of the biggest websites use google analytics

Good analytics is free to use and does not cost you scare resources on your service.

thats the reason the service is widely used!

^^ If a site owner has inserted the Google analytics code in his web pages, then each of the user who open that web pages will automatically download a file named "ga.js" with the size 23 KB.

    yes,
but you can also use legacy script urchin.js. its lighter than ga.js but also lacks some features.

I use urchin.js on my site

Google Analytics tries to put some cookies in the user's browser.
What would happen if these cookies are blocked?
