Thread: Different Search Engines

First there was Yahoo, then there came Lycos, then Google and so on, and today there are lots of different search engines which you can use for your searches. But what is the difference in the different search engines, do different search engines gives different search results?

Sometime before I used to think this and I did get different results on different search engines but not so different!

Like Google is something which I think the majority of the world uses and so site owners always look into Google for their rankings, but is this the same for other search engines?

Are there any pros and cons about different search engines?

Google is the best with their competitive protocol. They have indexed a large no of pages that it is not easy for other providers to outperform Google.

yahoo is only one which can stand somewhere in competition to google though it stands real far !

Its CEO have made a statement which implied Yahoo is not a search engine any more.

The Search Engine List

They have forgotten Wolfram|Alpha even though it is the only of its kind in search engine ( computational search engine) category. I have mentioned it on August I think here.
