Post Why HTML 5 should kill flash

So do you like flash? Agreed they enhance web browsing but well flash has this great capability of slowing down my pc literally crawling
Ive known many friends of mine who have real slow connection and use this flash blocker plugin from firefox to browse web. It is a real pity for they got to disable the flash blocker every time they had to open some sites which have majority of flash content!

So well iam kind of happy that flash killer HTML5 is here actually I don’t care what is here and what is getting killed as long as web pages load quickly.
But well if that happens it will be a bad thing for webmasters, as with HTML they have too check compatibility of a site with all browsers in use but same is not true with flash.

But the all new Apples ipad lacks flash support and if the ipad is a hit then we better get used to HTML 5
So do you want flash to get irrelevant soon or not ???

Flash would have never picked up in a big way. Flash is in my opinion only good for large corporations that have a well established brand and people come looking for them as they already know then from other media.

If for example a webmaster launched a site purely on flash no search engine would be able to read whats written on it hence reducing the chances of ranking well. So flash never excited me in the first place. I am only in favor of stuff that can be read by search engine bots as thats what brings in people and whats a website without its visitors.... a big zero.

Apple has not shipped flash to stop people from using flash apps which can be downloaded from anywhere. Now google bot supports flash.

A site containing docs in pdf also get indexed. I have seen it.

Default flash is important for animations!!

html is easy to understand and also in working. Flash is little bit crappy.

I have always hated flash - for no other reason other than tremendously slowing the browser experience.

The flash ad's that just pop-up all over the screen was a big turn-off.

Agreed that this is not fault of flash itself but its misuse. But if it disappears off the face of the world, I am not going to miss it.

p/s. That is one reason why I used to like FF because it has the flash-block. Well, IE8 has also got this now.

Google Chrome also has Flashblock now. And you can get Opera to play with flash the way you want. So, now most of the majors have the feature to 'selectively' block flash.

HTML5, a groundbreaking upgrade to the prominent Web presentation specification, could become a game-changer in Web application development, one that might even make obsolete such plug-in-based rich Internet application (RIA) technologies as Adobe Flash, Microsoft Silverlight, and Sun JavaFX.
