    Post photo editing tools

Photo are everywhere especially with the advent of cameras in mobile phones you find everyone clicking away.
But all photos aren’t captured best, there may be some photos which capture the best moments of your life but aren’t impressive enough. To make it look great you can use photo editing tools. Today there are a number of free tools available .

I go for tools like GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is nice to use and is very much like photoshop , irfan view works well for simple editing, then there is picassa from google.
BatchPhoto is good for photo touch-ups and effects also converting images to different formats also you can rename multiple images at once
Paint.net is good too works well on windows XP
But photoshop rocks any day having advanced editing features but isn’t free that’s the dud there !

Have you enhanced your photos ever ?

Which tools do you use ?

I am an hobbyist of photography. and i use both camera and mobile phone(whichever available at the right time)

I dont want to mention what tools i use, but yes i have used photoshop sometimes, though it didnt allow much..

Gimp is also good, but it takes good time to understand the functions..

try to google search extensively and you will find the better..

Thats not always the case, sometimes photos turn out to look better than they looked originally!

Preeti is reasonably correct, but not always the case , as you said

not always the camera only will work to give the best out of a pic, and editor works best there.. but again, if your photo is not ok, you cannot dream of making very good pics even after extensive editing and so i think editing is good only with best pics. you cannot make every pic arty, just by the use of a editor..

As a Linux user, I find that GIMP is almost a necessity. I agree it takes a little time to learn, but GIMP 2.8 I believe will make it far easier (Ars has an article on this).

Initially I did think Photoshop was "better". I did understand, however, that GIMP is equally powerful once you've gotten over the automatic styles that Photoshop has: no real professional uses them as much as newbies do and they get "old" in no time.

There are a lot of tutorials on GIMP. I just read one a long ago about making a "paintbrush". You'll really get yourself comfortable with many of the tools once you've finished with that guide.
