There is a range of devices used for communication on the internet. Some of the important devices are- Modem, Bridges, Routers and Gateways. In Modem the digital data is converted into analog data & analog data is converted into digital data using Modulator and demodulator. Bridges are used for connecting multiple similar networks so that they look like a single large network; here the data is transferred on the same type of networks using the same type of protocol. Unlike Bridges, routers can connect to different network using same protocols; they are used to connect more than two or two IP networks. Machines using different types of network are connected through Gateways using different types of protocols.
When thinking of other Internet device you may come to think of USB's, and datacards and other connectivity options such as that which are in a way internet devices, but in a different form of way!
