Thread: HP Slate

HP's answer (and a pretty good one) to the Apple iPad, the HP Slate, seems like a very balanced product with some really great advantages over the iPad. There is not much officially known about this product (in terms of specifications) but some leaked specifications are now out and are believed to be true, so do take them with a pinch of salt.

First off, its powered by the Intel atom, its going to be running Windows 7 OS, its got USB ports (dont know the number), has a memory card slot and supports flash !






With features like these, all i want to know now is its price, well, no word officially but HP says its going to be cheaper than the iPad, so lets hope its actually below the $499 mark. Launch is due in June.


Just in case you dont know, iPad does not support flash, so you cant view sites having flash based content like youtube. You dont get any USB ports or a SD card slot with the iPad.

Now that this segment is really heating up (specially with the features of the Adam PC) i really hope these products live up to their expectations and become even cheaper over time.

Windows 7 will make the device more attractive. I hope that it does not have restrictive features.

Even if the device has one USB port, this will be a big +.

And i want this because its better than iPad.

This does look slightly the same as the ipad, i suppose the only difference is that it has a USB port and runs Windows! But what other difference is there that makes it better than the ipad (a question to those who said its better than the ipad)!

Flash support, faster processor,normal windows apps and all the advantages that windows has got.

USB is 3 small letters, but on a 32GB iPad, it may be something critical as it has very limited expansion options.
