How can we too build our own forum?

Most popular paid Script for creating a forum is: VBulletin. This forum is also based on it. It's easy to administer and takes care of the security with regular updates.

There are other free scripts which are good too. For example: phpbb, SMF, MyBB etc.

You may create a forum using a content management system for free. Drupal is my favorite. The website in my signature is entirely built upon Drupal, including its forum.

Vbulletin is the best forum script there...


but you may also try some free ones first.. like SMF.. its also has matured now..

there must be a zip file..

unzip it on your php host.. you must change your preferences and you are done..

You can learn to install and create the forum from ebooks, video tutorials and google. There are support forums and documentation manuals of the forum scripts at their own websites. Refer them.

As I mentioned, Drupal is a CMS which is used to build the websites. By using its various modules, you can extend its functionality to build forum. If you require help, you may PM me.

No web-designing course is there which offers to create the forums.

first of all, dont get offended,.. but i want to tell you one thing very clearly...

You should know what you want.. Forums without Vbullettin don't do very better in the internet.. I maybe wrong, but as these things are freewares so they end up in slow forums and users dont attract....

there is much hardwork and time needed to run the forums, you need an admin who can take the technical part of the forum, and some really serious people to mod your forum as many things will happen and things can ruined up soon if properly not managed..

moreover these free forums which you may like to try before going for vbull are generally moderated by forum host..if something annoying happens or there is very less activity on your forum, they can switch off the forum in days and wont you be able at all to run it again as everything rests with them,, these are nice adventures and as in businessman's mind if its not paying they turn down the service immedietly...


i want you to first look somedays on this forum itself.. see it as an example and watch carefully whats happening.. even sometimes these forum has spammers(not me HEHE) and there are technical issues related to a website that updates very frequently (sometimes many posts in one minute) and has a software patched to run in the background at the servers, like this..


i want you to go through kinds of social networking website makers like ning.com etc where you can know more about social networking...


there is always a reason of doing anything.. theres always a reason to cry and dance..

dont make it a boring advent for yourself.. it needs lots of time and dedication...
