Nice. But does not impress me at all.

For a PC of that cost, it does not offer any redundancy except for disks in terms of RAID. On the other hand, I was involved with Dell with the purchase of a computer of the following specs:
    • Form factor: Standard Rack mount
    • CPU: 2 x Intel Xeon E7530 (Six Core) with a provision to add 2 more such sockets
    • NIC: 2 x Dual Port Broadcom 5709C GbE with a provision to add 2 more
    • HDD: 4 x 500 GB 2.5" disks (RAID 1), provision to add 12 more disks
    • Memory: 32 GB Memory (redundant) expandable to 128 GB
    • Optical drive: DVD-ROM Drive
    • PSU: High Output Power Supply 3 PSU 1100W x 2 (redundant)
    • Accessories: Keyboard / Mouse/ TFT Monitor 15"
    • OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5
Almost everything in the above computer has built in redundancy. The cost is about Rs. 8 lakhs.

Yep, not at all impressive specs, pretty outdated actually

@J4K : Dual PSU is generally a bad idea, has a good chance to kill your PC in a few hrs, most high end motherboards will not boot up and give you an error warning.

well, i would make a better one with that money.

BTW, what's the use of 3x GTX 285????

Better put 2X ATI 5970, it will get much more better performance in terms of graphics

That is a server class machine. Its motherboard, chipset, topology, architecture, etc. is different.

I know, one cannot compare a server with a desktop but the point I was making is it is useless to spend $15K on a desktop.

I cant afford a $15k computer but even if I could I wont buy it.. the simple reason being I have no use for such a computer. I wonder what kind of applications require such specs!
Just so you know that there are more expensive machines you can get custom made... but the point is why would any one need such a box? It wont take you to outer space

yeah, their is no use of such high specs for desktop.

A good PC under Rs 60000/- is high enough for gaming purpose and other stuffs.

Choosing the right components matters the most

The machine that I mentioned is a server class machine. It has a different architecture. A server must have redundancy to overcome small failures. For example, if one PSU goes down, the second PSU continues to supply power.

Such redundancy is not (usually) available in a standard desktop and is neither required (for most situations).

Be it $15k or 8lakh rs its not worth that

Mostly people buy PC's for Running heavy softwares 3DS max, maya, etc or for Hardcore gaming or daily PC use like making documents, surfing the web,etc

For this a PC not more than 60k rs is required(with HD5970 )

I would rather buy a Bullet 350 standard and a Volkswagen POLO for 8lakhs
