Thread: How to get mobile GPS on laptop?

Hi friends, I have mobile which has built in GPS function, and i have also Google Maps installed on the phone. I can get proper GPS function on it. Now if i want to use same function on laptop, is it possible? ( Connecting mobile through USB, just like we can use our mobile as modem on laptop)

For any GPS device to communicate with your laptop it needs a software.

I have a sony phone, and it has got GPS facility. I connect my phone to my laptop and use the "Sony Ericsson PC Companion" to do so.
Once the GPS application is opened through this software, installed in my laptop, I get the screen (the maps, and route directions) in my laptop. All I have to make sure is that my phone gets a clear view of the sky. Keep the phone on the windsheild, and this will do.

So, thats it.
It depends on what phone you are using, and whether it supports this application.

thanks nevinjohn, i didn't know that i need another software to access GPS on the laptop. I am using samsung jet S8003, then which software i need to install on the laptop. I have NPS (New PC Suit) for syncing mobile, but there is not any option to open GPS application. can you please tell me the name of the software, I will try with my mobile.
