    [QUOTE=essbebe;336952]
    1.with just a rj45 input lan 1 and computer connected to Lan2 ?
Rj45 of Hathway direct to computer OK ?
Have they supplied any Cable modem ? Motorola ?

    2.
Which OS you use ? if windows 7 application "connectify"
transforms your laptop as an AP. ( WLAN card needed )
    (No wifi router needed )

In this thread a user has reported success for wifi for "CONNECT"
    [QUOTE]

    1. with rj45 input to lan1 from cable modem given by Hathway and another rj45 from lan2 to laptop I was able to connect to internet.(only for sometime though).
I forgot the model number of cable modem(provided by Hathway) and will give u in my next post.

    2. I use windows 7 home basic and I know how to give ad-hoc and share internet .(i used to share internet to my roommates' lappys using this method until now.)

    3. The most important thing is that yesterday after posting my last post I got disconnected from net (i.e my browser shows "cannot connect" ) but bittorrent client keeps working and is downloading .
It keeps on downloading from internet but i was not able to connect using the browser. I tried IE,Firefox...but both said "page cannot be displayed".

The worst thing about hathway is that they assign IP for the computer only once a day.
so If I set wga modem to "automatically obtain ip" mode then it gets an ip and if i remove the wga modem and connect the cable modem to my lappy it willnot work as Hathway system willnot give new ip. (we need to call them and ask for reset)

The last thing.. can u tell me how to enable/disable dhcp in wga modem (i couldnot find the relavent settings page)

    Hi essbebe,

I am using Linksys WAG54G2. I shifted from BSNL to beam just 1 day ago.

It has to be connected us using RJ45. But WAG54G2 has DSL port as RJ11.

Can you help me with all the steps so that I can configure to connect to multiple both wireless and wired desktop.

    1) need clarification. for wireless connectivity to laptop. Is it compulsory that the desktop should be switched and connected to beam and then remove the RJ45 and put into RJ45 #1 port of router?

The beamcable guy asked us to purchase a wifi modem and told that this router can't connect. But, I don't believe him. I think i am right here?

    Please help.

    Appreciate your help...

When you get only a RJ45 cable to connect to your computer, it means
you have become part of a LAN network of the company.

I have connected ( for MI5 Cable in Chennai ) to the WAN port of a SMC wifi router.
and selected DYNAMIC IP as connection.
all laptops can work on wifi. now.
Also connected one more STANDALONE wifi router Netgear wgr614v6) from SMC LAN1
to increase radius of activity to about 40/50 feet now. from first floor.

    Para two:
You can select "1483 Routed '" in wan page
Connect Rj45 to Lan1 of dlink wifi model and try.
    ensure white list disabled.
    feedback.

    Setup
Thanks for the quick reply. I understood the part 2 but didn't understand before that.

    BSNL Scenario

    1) BSNL wire is RJ11 which connects to DSL port of WAG54G2 modem.
    2) from RJ45 #1, desktop is connected and rest of the laptops connect via wireless.

    Beam Cable Scenario

    1) Beam cable is over fiber optic which is RJ45 type. So, it can't be put in DSL port of router.
    2) Beam login is via browser by entering user name and password. If i put the RJ45 (beam wire) into Ethernet port 1 and port 2-3 other computers. WIll it connect? Can it be configured in router settings by entering username and password just like we do for bsnl? (ofcourse selecting RFC 1483 Bridged)?

Sorry for asking again. I am out of india and my brother is facing this problem in india so need detailed guide from you so that i can help him in getting this resolved.

Today, I asked him to remove the RJ45 cable from desktop and connect it to the laptop. It worked. It means there is not MAC ID locking done by beam. Few years back, they were doing this.

    Appreciate your help!

    .

If the laptop has Windows 7 as OS an application called "connectify"
will make the laptop as an AP ( AcesssPoint )

Download Teamviewer and also ask your brother to do same.
you can control remotely the laptop /or desktop for verification/.
Network settings etc/. install new applications.

    Feedback .

Default wifi mode for BEAM : UTStarcom WA3002G4

    TEST:
TRY application "connectify" if OS used is windows 7 Vista XP/
Laptop with Beam in rj45 connected becomes an AP
( access Point)for other laptops/ cellphones in wifi mode.
    :
    2. When you select "MER" : same as "bridged "
( an Input to Rj11 Not possible in: wa3002G4 )

    3. WAN page options limited and cannot be used to activate WIFI.
    4. Trying LAN1 input as a switch.
    5. ONLY a standalone wifi router ( say Netgear WGR614v9 etc ) may work
Borrow one and test. select Dynamic IP.

    Hi,

    I Followed the below steps,

    1. Connected Beam RJ45 to LAN1, and LAN2 to my desktop,
    2. Changed Lan settings to open 192.168.1.1
    3. Changed the settings for the Router kept the below settings

    Service Category: UBR withoout
    Connection Type: Mer
    PCR, Encapsulation Mode: LLC/snap-bridging
    Obtain an IP address automatically

    4. Saved the settigns and restarted the router, Internet light turns on the router,
    5. Directly if we open the beam portal, its not opened so created a new internet connection, giving my username and password,
    6. when dialed its directly loging in to the portal and now i can access internet,

Now comes my Prob, i can connect only one device at a time, if i login to my laptop or mobile using wifi, its disconnecting the other connection and connecting to the present device, but i want to use internet on all the devices at the same time. can you tell anymore solutions, I havent used connectify as its provided by office and cant install any softwares in it.

    TRY:
Enter MAC address of all devices used ( In wifi page)
    or disable Mac white list.

MAC Filter is in disabled mode only

Should i change MAC Filtering Setup

    the page shows this message:

    "MAC Filtering Global Policy: FORWARDED

MAC Filtering is only effective on ATM PVCs configured in Bridge mode. FORWARDED means that all MAC layer frames will be FORWARDED except those matching with any of the specified rules in the following table. BLOCKED means that all MAC layer frames will be BLOCKED except those matching with any of the specified rules in the following table. "

Should i change the setting to Blocked?

    Please see Post No 33.
Wa3002_G4 does not know VPI/VCi of your Beam connection
    No adsl BB input.
.select. "MER" to avoid making any entries Only wifi page .
Unit used as a switch. presumed input also goes to wifi part of modem.
    Wifi reported working..
Confirm whether wa3002_g4 has StaticIP mode in wan Page (pppoe /bridged/mer etc )

Which OS you use ? if windows 7 application "connectify"

In this thread a user has reported success for wifi for "CONNECT"

A stand alone wifi router with a WAN/Internet Input may work.

    Hey,

I was previously using Airtel Boardband through beetel 450TC1 ADSL2+ Router, now I have changed my connection to Beam telecom.

I followed your steps, but its not working. I have some queries, but before that here is what I did.

    1. I noted down my ip address, subnet mask, default gateway and dns server using cmd prompt and ipconfig /all
    2. I pressed the reset in the back of the modem for 5 secs and brought the device to factory reset. It displayed SSID as Airtel.
    3. I logged in using WEP 0987654321 or can be logged in using LAN and 192.168.1.1 (admin, password)
    4. I went in to the setup page and that is were I got huge number of questions
    a. What should be ATM VC values?
    b. I put encapsulation type as Static IP address (is this right?) Beam telecom offered static ip for me (as i wanted to play games )
    c. After choosing static IP address, what values should I enter in Static IP column? I entered the values which I got from command prompt. I still wonder what should be 1483 bridge type to be?

Please help me out here. Anyone.

Anything I try, I always get in browser : Your ADSL is down, please check your ADSL line is plugged correctly!

    Thanks
