Thread: BEAM TELECABLE to BSNL ADSL Modem cum WiFi Router

Hi Guys,

Previously I was using BSNL unlimited plan for which I have brought ADSL Modem cum Wifi router from BSNL only.

Now changed to BEAM TELECOM which provides internet is over LAN cable.

How can I use my old ADSL Modem cum WiFi Router with new LAN cable?

Get connected to internet.
( presume you have to log in)
Shift Rj45 from Beam or Cable modem )to LAN1 of adsl modem/wifi router
Connect another Rj45 to desktop.
In WAn page select "MER" ( presume wifi settings already made )
Save Reboot.
Test desktop in lan mode and laptop. in WIFI mode.

Actually I have ZTE Modem cum Router, I could not find the option MER. Could please point me to the exact location?

Please mention the model/number .
If it is ZTE ZXDSL 531B see in WAN page.

As you have mentioned I have ZTE ZXDSL 531B, even after setting the values i'm unable to use Wifi.

Internet LED was still not glowing and Internet was not working.

Step 1 :
Connect to Beam" Broadband after using Dialer.
Step 2 :
Remove Rj45 from computer end
Step 3:
Connect to LAN1 of ZXdsl 531B
Step4:
Connect another Rj45 from ZTE/ZXDSLLAN2 to computer/desktop.

( "MER" usually seen in th WAN page. "Bridged" PPPoE etc )
Your Router is now working only as a switch.
Even if seen /set may not have any effect
Confirm you can connect to Internet.

Step 5 : Check in laptop whether WIFI is working.

Result may be NEGATIVE:
Model531B needs an adsl signal input via RJ11 cable.

Para two:

With OS.Windows 7 : The system to which "Beam" is connected should have a wireless lan card, and with an application "Connectify" other laptops in range can access Internet.
No wifi modem needed.

Para three :

even after setting the values i'm unable to use Wifi.

When connected to Internet
in computer Start/ RUN type cmd OK
New window
type ipconfig /all

Copy/paste data here.
Your default Gateway and IP address will be different.
( Not usual 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.10)
DNS values also will be different.

May not be possible to use "Beam" connection in wifi mode.
Ask CC.
You have no access to any unit to change from "Dialer" mode your Beam BB connection . Confirm.

Yesterday I was able to connect to the internet over WiFi using the ZTE ZXDSL 531B Router cum Modem by connecting the beam cable to LAN1 and In the router settings Connection type as PPPoE and Disabling DHCP.

But the only problem I see is - > Only one machine will be able to connect to net. If Machine #1 is connected to net via WiFi and if Machine #2 to logs into the network Machine #1 is out of Internet Access and Machine #2 is given Internet Access.

I need to see what might be the root for this cause....

Disabling DHCP......

Enable it In lan page and give a range say 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.10.

Did you connect another RJ45 from ZTE Lan2 port to the desktop ?

i was trying to serch solution to my problem which is similar to that of vijay.

i hope you can help me too... recently i got new broadband connection...which provide connectivity through Rj45 connector or cable net (hathway connection).

i want to configure wifi network for my home purpose for minimum 2 persons. possibly secured one ie need password to connect for internet connectivity.

i have beetel 450 tc1 wifi ADSL2+router which i used for my previous airtel broadband service.

i have two laptops of dell, with windows vista & professional. when i put same query to my service provider they said i have to buy new wifi router.

if you can help me to set up wifi network for me...

i tried to do which u have explained to vijay.... but problem is that i am not able to locate wan page for my wifi router settings....in fact nothing was happening..

jus for information i will let u know wht i hv done....

1.got connected to internet via Rj45 cable to my lappy
2. then removed cable to plug it in LAN1 slot in router
3. then took another cable from LAN2 and pluged in my lappy..
4. as posted by u look for WAN setting ....got stucked here only..as not able to do anything related to WAN

i would request if u can help me as layman becoz i m not so pro...

Select menu Backup/or Save settings.
Save it to say C:/My Documents/DNA router working Ok

No need to make any changes in present setup of DNA A 212
If you get connected to Internet automatically
( You are on PPPoE Always On mode userId/PW
stored in wan page of modem) confirm.

Just connect the cables as suggested and try.

If no connection Do not try now.
You have to RESET DNA A212-I to factory settings etc .

hey. but i got a problem....

once every 24 hrs beam redirects me to its home page where i have to login with my userid and pword.

but when i try to access wifi with my mobile, my pc is getting disconnected and m being redirected. same is with the mobile. as soon as i change the device, its redirecting me. plz help.

may be tried. ( borrow from friend for trial )
Now The rj45 will go to WANport of wifi router.

Hi guys
i've read this thread many times and was stuck with this issue.
i want my "utstarcom wa3002g4" to act as wireless router but not as modem.
I have cable internet connection (Hathway) and want this modem/router to act only as router.
i did the following things.

deleted all existing templates in modem wan settings page.
created a new template with MER enabled.
i dont know what to give in next page (ipaddress page)
there are options like "obtain automatically" and "use the following" in the next page.
The same goes with default gateway and dns.

as far as the wifi is concerned i enabled wifi,gave ssid and password ,tested wifi and im able to connect to modem via wifi but not to internet.
so the wifi seems fine.

i inserted rj45 from "cable modem" to LAN 1 and another rj45 from LAN 2 to laptop and am changing the modem settings from that lappy.
I dont have access to cable modem interface as I dont know the IP and other credentials to access it.

please help me in solving the issue

WA3002-g4 used more as a switch.

Disable dhcp in modem/router.
( MER preferred but PPPoE also can be tried )
All entries mostly auto selection. (DNS specially )
wifi entries as usual.

In computer:
Select obtain Ip address automatically in TCP/IP proerties page.

When connected to internet
in computer
START RUN type cmd Ok
New window
type ipconfig /all
you will get the IP address for your system
and the Gateway IP. and DNS.
( likely to be different to 192.168.1.1 modem/router adddress )

its connecting with the following difficulties..
1) I cant connect to internet more than 5 minutes. After five minutes again i need to restart my WA3002-g4.
2) wifi is not working. I cant find the wifi network even though I scanned many times even using another laptop.

I am connecting only using Ethernet connection as i cant find the WiFi.

pppoe cannot be used because i dont have any username or password to connect to the ISP.
They only remember the ip of the first system connected to them and will not allow any other system to connect atleast for next 8 hrs.
(ofcourse we can call them and ask for reset).

with just a rj45 input lan 1 and computer connected to Lan2 ?
Rj45 of Hathway direct to computer OK ?
Have they supplied any Cable modem ? Motorola ?

Which OS you use ? if windows 7 application "connectify"
transforms your laptop as an AP. ( WLAN card needed )
(No wifi router needed )

In this thread a user has reported success for wifi for "CONNECT"
as mentioned earlier we are using WA3002_g4 only as a switch.

A stand alone wifi router with a WAN/Internet Input may work.
