Question Monitor - 17" or 19" ?

I want to know which TFT is better 17" monitor or 19" Monitor. I do not want to go for Higher sized monitors because I'll have to burn a hole in the pocket to upgrade my GPU (and possible my whole CPU) then.

Lets say both have native resolution of 1440 x 900.
I'm concerned about Texture Pixelate and noise. Plz reply.

I think I'll go for Samsung because of high contrast ratio.

You need to think about what you going to use the screen for, i mean is it just browsing the net, or will you be watching movies on it too?

Ive seen them all here in India an the only one worth spending money on is HP. Get an HP 19 inch tft which would cost you Rs10200 - Rs10500 depending upon where you buy it from.

TFT Screens dont make any noise atall and they consume less power then the CRT monitors.

The price mentioned above is for their pavellion range and the commercial range is a little bit on the higher side.
You can also get a 22 inch HP monitor for Rs 14500 to 15000.

The prices mentioned above are from Delhi.

I play games, watch movie, browse internet and also programming. So If I go for 19" that wont be a problem would it ?

What ? 1280*800 should run perfectly in your monitor ....

What company is it ?

And what GPU do you own ?

Admin i have never heard of CRT or LCd Monitors making any noise ??

What noise are you talking about Admin ?

To the best of my knowledge The noise comes from the fan when the cpu is running on a heavy load .....

CRT monitors do make noise - it an extremely high frequency humming noise almost inaudible to ears but nonetheless harmful. This noise originated from the picture tube. Open the back panel of a CRT monitor and you will hear it.

This CRT noise is much more harmful than the various fans' noises.

I would recommend a 22" monitor if you can afford one. If not go for 19". 17" is too small.

If you are going to watch movies, I will recommend widescreen but otherwise widescreen is not recommended.

I would have gone for 24" monitor if I had G260 or 9800 GT GPU ... I think I'll settle for 19"

Good question. Only the NON DISPLAY Surface is glossy. The Display surface is covered with non reflective coating thus no reflection at display area of the screen. So point all sorts of lights on it and no reflection. Its a very good feature of monitor.

Btw The native resolution is 1440 x 900
The model no is 943nwx. It has 8000:1 contrast ratio (as claimed).

I bought a new screen last week a 19inch HP w1907 and its not bad atall and the sound is alright as well.
Besides all that glossy screen and wide screen and what not it looks a lot posh as compared to other brands..

And its cheap
