r u looking for laptop or desktop ??
as far as i know, WoW is not very demanding at all. Yes, there are talks of a graphics update frm Blizzard, but u just want a comp for WoW ?
i guess u dont need 50-60k, a lot less should do.

Plz tell if u need a laptop or desktop so that i could help u more.

Like rajan said WOW does not demand much graphics .... All you have to do is to make sure that your computer has a 256mb Graphic card . Thats it

If you want a Desktop specifically for wow 35k can buy you one which can give you max graphics for wow [anything with 256mb card]
.

For downloads make sure you have a good isp and Lot of Hard drive space thats it

I'm sure he wants to play other games too.

Graphics card performance depends more than on just the memory.

GPU :-
XFX NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT 512MB Graphics Card Price - 8900 INR
or
XFX NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT Graphics Card - 7500 INR

RAM:-
Corsair 2 x 2 GB DDR2 RAM Price - 2 x 2000 = 4000 INR
(RAM from Other Brands are Cheaper and you can go for transcend or zion)

Motherboard :-
Dont know the price but :-
Nvidia 730i
or
Nvidia 750i

Processor : Pick one. Lowest price Intel Quad Core will be available at 9000 to 10000 INR. But you can go for Core2Duo. No reason to spend too much money here. Unless you have money to waste.

Hard-disk: 500 GB SATA (atleast). Brands : Seagate, Western Digital
500 GB Sata Western Digital = 3200 INR
500 GB (16 mb buffer) Sata Seagate Hard Disk = 2850 INR (I personaly have this)

Please note that all prices are approximate and price changes in the market frequently.

well, if u want to go for the Q6600 (lowest intel Quad) , i suggest u w8 till end on Jan, as the end of life of the Q6600 is in Jan 09. Hence all vendors will be offering price cuts on that processor. IMO, u really dont need a quad now. Most of the games are not quad core optimized. But its always good to be ready for the future. Also, corsair is a good brand, just buy their RAM, dont look for cheaper brands to save 1k. Also, u can get a 9600GT for 6.2k here : XpertVision NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT 512MB GDDR3 Graphics Card - GF .

Pls check my Threads on GPUs in this sub section .... I am very well versed with PC hardware

ok for a gaming rig

i would recommend Nvidia 8800GT or AMD HD4850 .....
HD 4850 performs better than the 8800GT and is based on a new architecture costing just rs 500 more than 8800gt

You can also go in for Transcend and Kingston . 3 Gb Ram is enough for all latest and upcoming Games [Experience]

You can go in for Intel and AMD mo bos too . If you r not planning to SLI cards there is no necessity to buy Nvidia mo bos .
make sure to buy PCI-E2 based mo bos

You can go in for Core2 Duo based processors . Core 2 Duo proceesors perform better than their cheap Quad Core Counter parts .Speeds in GHZ are not the only measure of a processors's performance ... Just buy a decent Core 2 Duo processor .

Also check Maxtor
Space completely depends on your needs
240GBGb atleast .... unless you are planning to download the whole torrents into your PC no need for 500GB .

well, i just wanted to add on and say that 3GB(RAM) is good enough, but if u need more, u need a 64 bit OS, else even if u have 8GB of RAM, on a 32 bit system , the OS will not be able to use more than 3GB of RAM.

Also, on the thread provided by shadowcon, i found 1 important point missing
Its the PSU.
Buy a good PSU now, cos they can limit ur next upgrade.
Eg: newer cards(High end ones) come with 2X6 or 6+8 pic-e molex power connectors. So try to buy a PSU with 80%+ efficiency, a tleast 2X6 pcie molex power connectors and if u have extra cash to spend, get a Modular PSU.
Even for newer CUP's u may well need a better PSU (usually the case with AMD's power hungry CPUs's).

Also, some advice on the case. If u r living in a hostel and none of ur frens hav a good comp, go for a modest looking case, else they will rune it !!

Yeah forgot about the PSU

And avoid Multi rail PSUs ...single rail is always better

i dont get it ..............
18K Gfx card and a 6K processor...... no balance IMO(if u DONT'T OC).
Also, A coolermaster 600W is not the best option, i have it and its not that good. Its real hot 4 me and 600W is on the border-line for that gfx card(4870).
Asus p5Q C ...... is it the Combo memory one?? (i know p5kc not seen Qc). Looks pricey for a Mobo with no pcie 2 slot. Instead go 4 A P45 mobo ?
Rest looks nice. But personally i would not like to spend 60K on a rig that will get out dated in less than 1 year. Rather get an expandable system(costs less than an all out rig).

Future Proof ?

Corei7's days are numbered ..... imo its similar to Pentium D [its Life i mean]

You seem to be quoting Online prices ..... They are cheaper in shops

@All
PS : Both the configs are overkill ..... A gaming Desktop that can run all games in max settings should cost you no more than 40-50k .... Dont Contradict me because i have seen it with my own eyes practically .....
