    Default Please Help!! in Upgrade Of PC

    Hi friends, i have a PC which is quite old now.so i want to upgrade it with latest Technology.
    "So i want to sell my old CPU only".
    i am not going to sell my CRT monitor, printer etc.

    So my previous CPU configuratuion is
    1) MOTHERBOARD=GIGABYTE 81845GV
    2) RAM=256mb DDR1
    3) PROCESSOR=Intel 2.4
    4) LG DVD WRITER
    5)Two 40gb HDD

    So my Budget is 6500 to 7000Rs+Price of old CPU

    So i want to sell my old CPU and take a New one

    SO plz suggest me what would be the price of my old CPU after selling and Which new motherboard,Ram, and processor should i take.

    I am very Thankfull to those who reply for my thread!!!!!!!!!

    Name your processor correctly...

    My guess is that this config may not fetch more than 4-5k.. I maybe wrong too

    no1 will buy ur processor to be honest.
    Get ur budget upto 13k and u can get an ok/midrange brand new rig.
    If u want specs 4 new rig here they r:
    processor AMD 5000+ = 2.7k
    Mobo : palit 780G = 3.8k
    ram: 2gb(2x1gb) DDr2 800 =1.5k
    keep ur old DVD writer or get new =1.2k
    160GB HDD = 2.2k
    some case with psu = 1.7k.
    total:13.1k

    If u want an even low budget rig :
    AMD 5000+
    mobo= giga 740G = 3.3k
    ram = 1GB ddr2 800 = 750
    keep ur old DVD writer or get new =1.2k
    160GB HDD = 2.2k
    some case with psu = 1.7k.

    total : 11.1k

    If u still cant get enough money, i suggest that u w8 till u get that much money. You can get nothing 1st hand in 6k(that too with latest tech !!lol).

    Btw these rigs are by no means latest. They are fine for gaming @ low res. Good for office and general browsing.i would strongly suggest that u keep ur dvd writer and save cash.

    1)It is impossible for you to upgrade this config to the latest Technology

    2)845 chipset motherboards are very old and support processors that are Pentium 4 and below .... u already seem to have a Pentium 4 processor that is 2.4Ghz .... so u can only hope to buy a new Pentium 4 processor that is 3.xx Ghz .... as it would be very difficult to sell your old processor , i recommend you carry on with it ...The performance boost is really not worth the financial loss

    What you can do to upgrade your PC

    --> Buy 1 Gb of DDr ram should be very cheap
    -->Buy a 80 or 160GB Hard disk
    -->Buy a AGP Graphic card

    optional
    -->2.1 speakers
    -->If you have atleast a 17 inch CRT u can also consider a TV tuner card

    All these will cost you less than rs7000

    Apart from this u can only upgrade ur processor [but not recommended ,refer point no 2 above]

    I will suggest u that keep the LG dvd writer and HDD.
    First see that motherboard till what processor it will support.
    for example = if ur motherboard support processor intel core2duo.
    then buy only processor. ok
    but i think u board will support intel dualcore.
    see to that first. if not
    choose board DG31pr(this will support upto quad processor) it will cost 3200
    it will support ddr ram it will cost for 1gb 750 ok
    it will support ur IDE HDD also ok don't worry so make use of it ur old HDD
    use ur old cabinet and check the smps is AT or ATX ok
    so u can make it of around (3200+750) itself ok
    if not only cost increase is processor only that will be 3500 for this board if not suppor old one ok Then (3200+750+3500)

    Well you can only think of upgrade if it was atleast intel D865, but since it is only Gigabyte845 so chances are very poor.
    First it don't have AGP slot to accomodate Graphics card.
    Second it don't have SATA port (as much i can recall), so you can't opt for a sata hard disk.
    Third your motherboard only support DDR1 , which nowadays are more costlier than DDR2 because of shortage.
    So take the pain, and first think of changing motherboard to a latest one before you want to upgrade
