its becoz of the technical limit of 32 bit OS, the normal xp which ur using now...

i m using cad from last 8 years
and i think its work good on win98 than vista

Then I suggest u spend some heavy bucks to get a 8800gt or even costlier quadro graphics card. Because the current 3d graphics design system depends largely upon how u use shaders. with a costlier GF card or a quadro card, u can do that. Quadro even supports programmable shader system and is totally dedicated to 3d developers.

The best thing would be send a quick e-mail to Kockum and ask them what they use in their offices..

Any good gaming box would be alright just avoid vista and you will be alright.

Just realised you said youve got 8gb of ram in your box.. there is no reason why vista wont perform well on that box... have you tried it?

whatever software /games u use xp is still the most stable ......

Many of the old softwares and games are incompatible with vista ...... this is y i dont use it even as my secondary OS
