we have alrdy told b4 that this is not a good time to upgrade. We shall suggest a good config at the right time.A good time line would be mid feb - early march. The reason is that new technology has just arrived and older generation processors are gonna have a price cuts soon. Gfx cards are getting cheaper as more and more manufacturers are coming to India. If you are in a hurry, chk other threads, many configs have been put up for a very wide rage of performance and price.

30k soen't really sounf like a good budge t for a gaming pc especially....i mean, specific GPU's cost more than that, i'd recommend the ATI 4670 looking at ur budget and the other things u hve to buy, but you could go for the 4850 if you stretch it anothe 5k rs....get a good psu, around 400-600 watts thuogh i have my doubts if you couls set up a gaming rig with 600 bucks.

There is nt any necessity to buy 30k worth GPU ..... 9800Gt or an HD4850 can run 80%of the latest games in max gfx settings ....

even games like crysis run good on low config coms with atleast 2gb ram and 256mb gpu.but you have to sacrifice on the grphics and go for low graphics.

Kid me not .... Crysis was running perfectly fine on my c2d ,8800GT and 3GB ram on very high setting [highest setting] ..... with almost all the rest of extra effects turned on ......

But when i tried maxing out my settings on GTA 4 on the same config ..... i was literally weeping ...... I could only set the gfx settings to 70% of its full capability .....

Its a no contest really GTA4 is setting the standards

perhaps we have played a differnet crysis and gta4!!

cos crysis on my friends nvidia dual-sli 712mb gpu with 4gb ram and 2.6c2d couldn't give more than 20-22fps at ultra-high.

on the other hand, gta4 flows like water on my 2gb system with 512mb gpu!!

dell xps m1530(jan 2008)
c2d 2.0ghz 2mb cache.
2gb ddr2 667mhz
160gb 5200rpm
nvidia 8800gt 512mb integrated in motherboard.

since i dnlded my gta4, there was a strange scene where the hero sways drunkenly in the city.it used to hang there.but after applying the patch,it was fine!
