Well I have an AMD 64 + 2.5 GB + 7600GT 512MB + SATA(2 drives) + Pinnacle tuner, I started using Style Xp ,window blinds and Aston when I had only 512MB RAM and a MX4000 graphics card, more than 3years ago but never faced system resource problem.So I think you should not have any problem with 1GB and the P4.Even I use lot more than I actually need-style Xp, windowblinds, aston, objectdock, windowfx, cubedesktop (at the same time), even side by side I also use a LINUX X86-64 with compiz fusion.
