i use the vista VG (vishal gupta) theme but i do set it up manually. i never use those theme softwares like windowblinds and stylexp. though the manual process is very long, but i like it that way.

no no no ... this just does the skinning ... you can virtually make your win xp behave completely like vista manually

1) the file transfer( copy/delete etc) dialog box animations
2) displaying of used and free disk space under my computer icons just as in vista

etc etc etc ....

you will be able to do all these manually:

Vista Theme OR Visual Style, Boot Screen, Login Screen OR Welcome Screen, Sounds, Mouse Cursors, Windows Icons, Windows Explorer, Progress dialog box, Shutdown/Log off dialog box, About Windows box, System Properties dialog box, Windows Classic Startmenu Left-side, Image and Start button Logo and a few other things

this is a very long process and each and everything can be done manually ... the entire process will need at least 1-2 hours if not more .... try it step by step if you like ... risk free IMO if instructions are followed carefully - but do backup current files before making changes at all steps ... follow this ...

Transform Windows XP into Windows Vista without using Customization Packs - Tweaking with Vishal

and

How to Install and Apply Styler Toolbar Skin in Windows XP Explorer? - Tweaking with Vishal

and you of-course you will need to also apply the theme you were talking about to give it the basic look. do add some reps for me if this turns out to be useful for you.

i request anyone using VG's resources and processes to at least post a thank comment on his site. he is a genious.

p.s - Do this at your own risk ...

Aston works fine, but needs a lot of manual config but on the other hand takes very little system resource , togather with window blinds and style xp with object dock you can make your OS look like anything you want, for more you can use any virtual desktop tool like cubedesktop etc.But for all this you must have loads of RAM at least 1Gigs or more.

I also used "Bricopacks" but this pack has some problems...Actually it holds some DLL to be used by other application... I come to know this thing when i try to synchronize my ipod.. The itunes didn't work..

I googled for almost 2 days.. And then from a flash i try again by uninstalling the pack and bravo it works smoothly.. So every single time i've to sync my iPod i've to uninstall the pack first..So i uninstall it permanently and now i'm using the best theme "Default XP theme"

I'm sure there would be so many application which get affected by these PACKS...

I tried most of these..but to be honest they take much resources so i prefer Windows Xp (Default theme). I am going to format my system because had some issues with windows 7 theme.

Lol, the exact reason why i still prefer being in windows classic theme. The themes services are always disabled for me, also i have set Adjust for best performance in the system properties !!

I was wondering coz u simply said "theme" , as for that remodification goes, I never wanted to do it coz, u need to redo it if your system files are updated during patches etc

I use XP Royal Theme. The Vista Transformation pack is cool. But Vista's own Aero theme is good enough.

I like AlienWare themes. They are definitely slick.
