CPU coolers are never ever wastage of money. They increase the productivity and longevity of the CPU

But i am unsure about RAM coolers, as i am yet to come across one of those installed in a PC. Seriously, anyone using them?

^^ yup. I have it. Increases the temperature of my OCed e7200 though it has done well on my old opteron 165+ a8n sli system. But it depends on which cpu coolers you are pairing up with and the overall airflow. more fans doesnt mean more cooling. More fans do more harm than good. For a non OCed system, the stock heatsink is more than enough. If the temps are high though, then either the front and the back panel fans dont push in or push out the air enough or its because of the psu. If the efficiency is bad, heat is dissipated and therefore heat circulates around the case. Bad cable management adds up the heat as well. Too much dust acts as a cloth thick enough to block fresh air or keeps the hot air in.

Can someone recommend me cheap cooling solution. Please mention the approximate price too.

P.S.: I dont want to burn a hole in my pocket.

GPU coolers work wonders for heavy duty GPU chipsets. But i am highly doubtful about the so-called RAM coolers.

Some heatspreaders do more harm than good. If the cable management is done properly and unless the heat dissipated from the large heatsinks come in contact with rams (which is again solved by using good cfm fans for front and back and/or if one puts their rams on the last slots) I dont see any reason to use them. One will be better off buying a 80mm- 120mm fan and using good old cable ties to cool it. They do a much better job than these fans.

CFM probably is a Unit - The amount of airflow which fans generate is typically measured in cubic-feet per minute (CFM)

don't keep the whole cover opened up at all times cool, there can be static electrical damage to components. the case acts like a faraday cage in this regard i think.

i just open up the front plastic cover exposing the hard drives.

yup my hunch was right :w00t:, just checked out wiki,

    "Real-world Faraday cages

[edit] Things that often act as Faraday cages

    * Elevators.
    * Some traditional architectural materials such as plaster with metal lath, and rebar reinforced concrete.
    * Steel and aluminum buildings and sheds.[2]
    * The cooking chamber of the microwave oven.
    * RFID passport and credit card shielding sleeves.
    * Cars and aircraft, when struck by lightning. The metal frame and outer skin of the vehicle cause the electrical charge to travel safely away from the occupants. This differs from a popular urban legend that claims that a car's tires cause the lightning strike to reach the ground. However, radio and cellular phone signals can still reach inside the vehicle since their wavelengths are significantly smaller than the windows and other openings in the vehicle's conductive frame, though internal signal strength may be diminished.
    * Wearable suits allowing high-voltage workers to sit directly on power lines.[3]
    * The internal metal lining of most consumer electronics, as well as the metal case of most personal computers.
    * A shopping bag lined with aluminum foil acts as a Faraday cage. It is often used by shoplifters to steal RFID tagged items"

ooo i feel like a scientist now  ....
