    hello to u all
i want my pc to automatically switch on during the night time as i plan to have 500c plan from bsnl, as u r all aware that during 2-8 is ul.
and also can i schedule a program like tata indicom dialer to connect automatically.

yes buddy you can make your PC boot automatically provided power supply to it...

just goto the Bios (F2 or del or some other key) at the very first screen when you switch on the PC there you can search (depends on the make of board, the options are placed ) check there will be space for entering the time for the pc to boot set it and it will switch on automatically

about the TATA dialer yes that also can be done simplest method is just create a shortcut of the dialer and drag that to start menu, programs, startup .. so when the PC boots the dialer also dials the connection

sorry mate cant do that...! you have to keep the PC on while downloading cant hibernate or standby ...!
because when you are downloading the processor has to analyze every information in ram, sent and received and then the HDD has to write it down so all the process has to be on working to keep downloading the only thing you can do is switch off the monitor thats all...!

avoiding noise.... you cant do much, by your question i guess you are having AMD processor which make usually more fan noise than Intel (fan)... so really cant do much though will check and update if there is anything...!

    Well,
Change the power options to "minimal power management"
    and change settings
turn off monitor - 1 min
turn off hard disk after - 5 min (your download wont stop after 5 min)
    System Standby - never
    System hibernates - never
(if you are in vista you can edit process management state
    like min -0%,max- 5% )

This is the only one thing you can try

turn off hard disk after - 5 min--->this option should mean that hard disc will be turned off after 5 min of inactivity but as long as a download is going on hard disc is active.

Change the power options to "minimal power management"
    This might help you.
If your possessor is amd, download the possessor driver for supporting "minimal power management"

Note that all possessors r not supported power management.
    AMD uses "Cool'n'Quiet™ "Technology.
Windows XP or earlier OS requires drivers for enable this.
But Intel uses a technology called "Intel SpeedStep"
Im not sure about drivers, May be drivers not required
If you have any doubts Please take a look

Intel Speedstep technology depends on your motherboard support not drivers as far as i know.my motherboard is 5 yrs old 865platform & it has this support.
