it depends from system to system. I dont think there is a universal F key to reboot. Alt+ctl+del is the universal reboot combination when in dos prompt or bios configuration screen. Edit: On some systems, Ctrl+F11 brings up a menu. You can choose to restore factory default settings from here.

If you want your system to go back to a previous state, say what it used to be last week or before installing Yahoo messenger, try system restore. There is no key in the keyboard which can do this function. Procedure for System Restore: Start > All programs > Accessories > System tools > System restore > > Restore my computer to an earlier time > Next > Select the restore point. If you want your system to come back to today's state after a week, create a restore point using the same method. Hope I addressed your question.

"bought" would be more accurate here I guess.. well in some dell computers, the key combination is mentioned while the computer has just started(initial screen) Like press CTRL+F11 or something to do safe recovery like... BTW you didn't mention laptop model/make etc...

Please mention your exact requirement. It depends on the restore point. If you have a restore point for the date you bought the PC, you can go back to that date. I think Norton Ghost can back up your settings. If you are not satisfied, you can simply reinstall Windows (will not take more than an hour). And reinstall only the programs you want. Please note that you may loose the data in My Documents and Desktop. Move this data to another location before you perform reinstall.
