@a $100,with the Phenom 2 550 X2(3.1GHz,1MB L2 cache,6MB L3 cache) u get the performance of an E8400 that costs $170 !!!!!!
Now there is more,also it supports DDR3.
This processor is very overclockable too. But the only downside i see is the 80W TDP.but, by looking at power consumption charts, it does not look too bad at all. It consumes as much power as E5300 or something.
The Athlon 2 X2 250($85) is 3.0GHz, and 2MB L2 cache, no L3 cache. It performs as good as an E7400. So, after 2 years(i think), AMD finally has pawned then in this section. We should see huge price cuts frm intel in the E8x00 atleast.
