| @a $100,with the Phenom 2 550 X2(3.1GHz,1MB L2 cache,6MB L3 cache) u get the performance of an E8400 that costs $170 !!!!!! Now there is more, also it supports DDR3. This processor is very overclockable too. But the only downside i see is the 80W TDP.but, by looking at power consumption charts, it does not look too bad at all. It consumes as much power as E5300 or something. The Athlon 2 X2 250($85) is 3.0GHz, and 2MB L2 cache, no L3 cache. It performs as good as an E7400. So, after 2 years(i think), AMD finally has pawned then in this section. We should see huge price cuts frm intel in the E8x00 atleast. Go AMD !!! FTW !!! here are some reviews: Athlon II X2 250 and Phenom II X2 550 BE review AMD Phenom II X2 550 and AMD Athlon II X2 250 Processors Review - X-bit labs AnandTech: The Athlon II X2 & Phenom II X2: 45nm Dual-Core from AMD AMD Phenom II X2 550 and Athlon II X2 250 Processors Review - Overclockers Club Last edited by rajan1311; 06-03-09 at 06:41 PM. Rep Power: 5 | good one but there are people who live in intel's mith just because of their aggressive marketing strategy... let them be... there was someone who even quoted AMD will be bankrupt.... with just a demerit little bit more power consumption which can be overlooked by performance and price. really

| hehehe looking at AMD's numbers, they have been constantly loosing hundreds on millions every quarter. So, untill AMD just does something stunning, i dont see how they can live for much longer. Btw, i dunno why the TDP is 80W when it consumes same amt of power as many other 65W chips. People have to give AMD a chance. many people baselessly say go for Intel, they rock. I just hope Intel has a disaster with larabee which gives AMD a chance to come back a lot stronger. |
