it seems that its normal for laptop drives to have those 4 extra pins !! i didn't know that.

There is absolutly nothing on it. No info about anything as master or slave and i dont think there will be option for that as here HDD will directly fit in the Lap in master or slave slot (if any coz some old laps like mine is like that).

I considered that as power because when i saw the other pins its exactly as the desktop IDE pins means 1 pin gap in the middle. so i thought its same as desktop HDD and was assuming it would be power.

hmm thats interesting as here on the HDD about power it is written as DC +5V 0.7A
now if those 4 pins are not power then from where do the HDD get power ?
because in IDE cable all 40 pins will be data exchange and if i connect that cable then there will be no power for this so it wont work now

Those 4 pins may be for Power, but you wont need anything to connect to them if you use the external casing/enclosure.

This is my 160 gb laptop internal Hdd with SVB Casing. All you need is the casing and a USB to mini-USB cable. Look carefully, those 4 pins are not connected by anything.

There is no need of any external power supply in case of Laptop Hdd.
