Thread: How to connect both CD & DVD Writers ?

I have a CD writer and a Dvd writer in my PC . But only the DVD writer is working , not the cd

I have given power supply and the Data bus to both , then i see that both are not working then i connected the data bus only to DVD so that atleast it works.

Can anyone tell me how to do right connections so that both of them work properly...

Since your having this problem , i guess your are using IDE cable (the thin flat horizontally long data cable).

connect each one of drives separately, if they work then no problem with drives.
Check the label on the drive for "Drive Configuration", or more specifically "Master"/"slave" configuration. You have to set the pins according as mentioned on your labe.
still if it doesn't work get another IDE cable and connect each one of them individually to separate IDE slots.
