    Default Installing windows vista...

    hi folks,
after my system crash (for reason see here http://www.indiabroadband.net/deskto...requently.html (Desktop restarts frequently!) ) i installed windows vista, total size of my harddisk is 80GB; distributed between 3 partitions (out of which C drive is of 24.4GB) now my problem is after installing into C only 9 GB of free space is available, i googled and saw that vista takes a lot of space. ( is 9GB sufficient for installing other nitty gritties like word processing softwares as well as Antivirus.. .... all those things for normal working..)
Wat would u all suggest.. for better utilization of disk space.

9 GB should be sufficient. Install program files in another drive so that it doesn't get installed in C drive.

I used to keep most of my programs in other drives due to less space. But 9 GB will be sufficient. Till there is space, install in C drive. When it got consumed, say 1 GB space left, further programs to be installed in another drive.

My Windows 7 drive is 24.4 GB.

I also install software and operating system in different drives. All of them work fine, except Google products and very few software which doesn't have the option to change/choose installation directory.

Even if you successfully fit all the software and operating system files in a single drive with little space, the system might become slow and start to cause problems.

BTW, You can use vLite to tweak and remove unnecessary services/components to make the operating system smaller.

Not all work.. Some of them have to be installed in your OS drive to work efficiently..
