Rep Power: 1 | Well, to be frank 40000-45000 is not that high a budget considering you are talking about a future proof PC. Moreover 4 to 5 years future proofing is not possible... PERIOD! I recommend AMD over Intel any day! Graphics card - buy 9600 GTX or better, no need for sound card! Dump your money on good RAM, like Dominators! |

Rep Power: 1 | ^^ Omg those prices are tooooo high. You get a good 9600GT (not GTX lol) for around Rs5,000. A friend of mine is selling a really good ATI4850 512MB card with a good cooler for Rs6.5k (still got 2.5 years of warranty). I will write the full specs, just hold on for a few day...... It would be a really bad idea to buy dominators as they are too costly (Rs7,500 for 4GB DDR2 1066MHz). have a look: Gaming PC- AMD Last edited by rajan1310; 08-30-09 at 12:50 PM. Rep Power: 1 | Considering you want an overall high performing machine, just investing on the proc and MoBo won’t do any good. You need a good, if not, great power supply unit, a good cabinet and also a decent UPS. Afterall, you don’t want to burn your 45k just because you did not spend a couple of thousands a UPS. DDR3 is almost double that of DDR2 RAM. So, I’d say get a AM2+ MoBo of AMD preferably based on the 790FX chipset and the Phenom II X4 955/965 depending on availability. That’s set you back by 25k. Then, get 4GB of DDR2 RAM = around <3k. After all this, get a decent GPU like a 4850, 4770 or a 4870 (that’d burn a hole of 12k). Get a decent keyboard and mouse = 2k (at least). Nice set of headphones = 1k (approx). then comes PSU. I’ve been using the corsair VX450 for a year and a half now. You need to go for this or something better. Nothing less than this would do. The VX450 would set you back by about 4k. Then for cabinet, if you’re looking at a high-end cabinet, go for Cooler Master’s Stacker (13k approx) or if you’re in the budget end then go for their elite series (the 334 or the 335. They sell for for around 3.5k including the PSU, so expect around 2.5k without the PSU). UPS another 4k for 800VA if you get APC with software monitoring. All this adds up to 53.5k. So, you probably need to up your budget a little if you want to get beast as you said. |

Rep Power: 1 | ^^ you still need a HDD and a optical drive.add 4k for that. I would go for a HAF932 over a stacker any day ! |

Rep Power: 1 | If you are buying the PC now change the graphics card to GTX 250 it will cost Rs.6900(ZOTAC) and is better bet than 9800gt and future proof too. About the monitor for RS.13000 you should be getting 24inch Benq monitor(E2400HD) a full HD monitor which even has a HDMI port. About the processor I would advise you to wait for some more time for the core i7 prices to drop as kartikoli said. But if you have to buy one immediately then I would suggest you go for a cheaper motherboard+processor combo for now and change to corei7 based system when the prices drop. As you are going to use it for gaming a cheap processor+motherboard should do as GTX 250 is a powerful card. Last edited by speedy; 09-14-09 at 07:03 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Rep Power: 1 | I dont know y everyone thinks prices of the core i7 will drop. The prices of core i7 will not drop much. The i7 920 will be stopped soon. X58 motherboards Will not get any cheaper. You only option is a core i5. The core i5 750 can be found in india for around Rs11k and even lah 1156 mobos can be for for 11k. That makes it a little cheaper than an i7 machine. |

I do not have much expertise there but I can advice you on others options that you have mentioned. a) Graphics Card: Look at my thread http://www.indiabroadband.net/comput...-analyzed.html (Some Graphics Cards analyzed). I think that medium range should be good enough for you. BTW, you have not mentioned what kind of games. b) Monitor: Buy a 21" full HD. Price will be around Rs. 10-11 K. This will be good for watching movies.

When the new processors come they are exorbitantly priced then in next 6 months they either decrease the prices of the processors or at least release cheaper alternatives which are definitely better than their previous series of processors. That is what happened with their Core2Duo,Core2Quad So we expect the same to happen with the core i7's too. | |

Rep Power: 1 | Intel knows AMD will not have anything faster for at least 1 year (till nov 2010 at least).Hence, y will they decrease the price? They want Core i7 to be a high performance, enthusiast segment product, I dont think it will be made any cheaper. But, you always go for core i5. |

Rep Power: 5 | Price don't depends upon competition only & processors prices always every year fall due to Moore's Law indirectly as processors become good . |

Rep Power: 1 | according to moore's law, processors will be 200 times faster in the next 10 years anyways, moores law make no sense here. Say after 2 years, AMD dies (looks pretty likely), Intel will dominate. They will sell celrons for $200. who will stop them ? They wont care about any law Also, if you remember, Q6600 is the most common Quad core out there. It was released with a price tag of $850, but due to competition, is has come down to real low levels.... I hope u got my point here |

Rep Power: 5 | Of course competition is a factor but not the only one. To stay ahead Intel will drop its prices of old processors as new one comes. |

Rep Power: 1 | Not only that after sometime the fabrication process becomes cheaper due to mass production. As the fabrication technology changes the prices should fall. I dont think AMD will go so soon.It is at least getting good profits in their graphic cards And after some time they have to release a new processor otherwise if not AMD another company might try to beat it. |
