Hi,

Can somebody suggest me a good internal High Definition TV Tuner card which will be available in India to watch and record TV programs in Linux. I have tried with Intex Internal Tuner card PC TV Capture which uses Philips Chipset SAA713X but I could not find a proper driver for this card in linux. Here is my PC configuration.

Processor: Intel Core 2Duo E4500
Mother Board: Intel G945GCNL
RAM: 2GB DDR2
Monitor: 22" Samsung
OS: PCLinuxOS 2009.2 KDE4
HD: 500GB

Please let me know if I need to provide any other details. Also suggest if there is any external TV Tuner card available which supports 1920*1080 resolution. I have already posted this in Linux section but could not get a solution.

Check about Pixel view TV Tuner card.

Typing the command I have given as root will enabled the driver. Your driver is already installed in kernel.

Search the file saa7134-cards.c

It must be there.

There are many modules which are there but are not enabled.

Yes. The module is there. but the tuner card is not recognized by the OS. It says as below for dmesg command.

And it gives a list of 142 card types. I have tried with some numbers but nothing worked. I have tried in different linux distributions. Same result in all tries.

Give me that 142 lists as attached here. I might hit & miss in other places.



Wait for 2 days at least after giving list. Modules are same for all distro as they depends upon kernels version.. They are not dependent upon distro.

There are many types of cards under ProLink brand. I am not sure which cards are available in India. I need to check for the driver availability in linux before buying. Any idea on particular card? I have checked in Bangalore local market but they are asking me about card model. No one is having display or brochure for these cards. All cards comes with windows drivers only.

Please check the manufacturer website for drivers. If lucky, you may find them. Or else you can put a query in their website asking them whether they have Linux drivers.

Generally TV Tuner Card manufacturers do not provide drivers for linux. Many drivers are included in linux kernals itself by default. Otherwise we can download them from linux-drivers.org site but we need to find a model and then driver for that card. I have Pinnacle, Averview also in my mind along with Pixelview but not able to find a model in local market. I am not sure the available ones are suitable for linux or not. Letś see what Luke Skywalker suggests for the existing Intex card. Then I can search for the other cards if that cannot be used.

Looks like Pixed View is good . Please let me know the model of the tuner you are using. And also please provide the distro and TV application names if you are using linux os.
