    Default Backlight in Monitor

What does a back light mean in the settings for a monitor? My friend has brought a full HD LCD for her desktop and when she went into the settings she did not know half the things and wanted to know more of what back light means!!!!!!!

Will come up with more questions as she asks me and post them on here!

A backlight is a form of illumination used in liquid crystal displays (LCDs). Backlights illuminate the LCD from the side or back of the display panel, unlike frontlights, which are placed in front of the LCD. Backlights are used in small displays to increase readability in low light conditions, and in computer displays and LCD televisions to produce light in a manner similar to a CRT display.

Backlight is the lighting source which is used to illumunate the pixels in an LCD display.
Generally CFL's are used for this purpose but now a days even LED's are also being used to reduce the power consumption.
