As the word says the ‘Janata PC’ is meant for janata (aam aadmi). The cost of this personal computer will be around Rs.15,000/- It is likely to hit the market by next year end. The members of Manufacturers’ Association of Information Technology (MAIT), HCL Infosystems, Vintron, Encore Software and Wipro Infotech are making an attempt to make this happen. They have joined together to give the country people a low-cost pc which would run on linux and support the local language applications. This PC will have a processor operating at 133 mhz – intel 486. The Union Ministry is likely to support this venture. The demand and need of PC is increasing day by day, but still not affordable by all. The Sales of PC was just 1.8 million in year 2000-01 and showed a growth in negative direction. With the launch of Janata PC, the sales is hope to reach 10 million in about four years of time.

Hey anything....how much is the prize of this Janata PC?I am curious though and would like to know if its available internationally..is it?
