9500GT is a lot faster than a 8600GT. Go for 9500GT ! Do not buy DDR2, buy GDDR3 only !!!!! End of you confusion.

But let me warn you that these cards are not meant for gaming. You will be able to play games on med settings only.

If you are not too much into hard core gaming, then go for 9500GT. This will suffice.

I have EVGA 6200LE 256 MB and I am quite OK with it.

The mid range ones cost 9-12k. they are 5750 and 5770. Prices are too high here in India .

Nvidia still has to release DX11 cards. That will take at least 2 months more...The 5750 and 5770 are good cards...

Boy, do i hate budget constraints. a 4770 will take care of it all. The games will run smoothly with just a 19' lcd. nice on a 22 but horrible with a full HD one.
