Default How To Detect Bad Sector in HDD

Hi ,

For last few days I am getting an IO error, when I am trying to Open few folder. HDD of My PC may have some BAD Sector. But I am not able to detect that. I need to be very clear before taking the HDD for repairing.

Please provide me any name of tool or any tool of OS for detecting BAD SECTORS.

let me give u a piece of advice my frnd.....there is no tool that can repair bad sector. this is valid only when there are some physical damage or demagnetisation of heads. these things can't be cured by any means. it means ur HDD life coming to end.

solutions that might work : 1 Try low formatting. it will take lots of time for 500GB. this is most known method.

2. try using the spin rite. this <1mb utility is magic. though their final version came in way bak 04, but i haven;t seen any such wonderful application. wht u need to do is make a bootable CD or bootable USB drive using this appliction. boot from it & then choose the maintenance mode. this also takes lots of time.

here official web : http://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm

if u can't buy it online.......pm me. i may allow u to use my copy.
