Exclamation Processor fried??

I was using my computer today when suddenly it froze up and when i now start it, all the fans blow at full speed, and the hdd read write light is constantly on, so is the light on the dvd drive, and nothing else happens, nothing displayed onscreen, not even the POST screen.
I started it up again a few minutes back and the same stuff happens, and this time i could smell something weird and shut it off.
All of this did happen after a min of plugging in a pen drive.
Please help!

Your processor fan is spinning na? It may be the PSU that has died. Can you hear any noise ?? I dont think the cpu has fried

AFAIK, there is nothing you can do, take it back to the vendor you got it from.

rajan1310 is right. When the fan blows up, you are in big trouble

If you are smelling something burning then there is some wire that’s getting shorted. Take it to your vendor, remove all the components and ask him to check one by one.

Just apply for the Processor RMA if it is in warranty ... its very unusual for a processor to die, that too without any overclock.

@rajan1310 What's RMA?? i've heard about it a number of times but what exactly is it?? Please explain.

Thanks Dilip.. its a huge performance increase from the P4 ... whats more, i exchanged my old 3 HDDs (total 200GB) for 1 320GB SATA WD drive, n just 400 bucks additional.

Well, basically if your hardware is in warranty, you can get a replacement. Its free of cost, you may or may not have to present them the bill.

What processor did you buy ?

i got a dual core e5300 for now (tight budget )...i found there's very little difference in performance with the lowest core2duo n it was a difference of 2000 bucks... got an MSI G31TM-P21 mobo. working kickass right now.

wont that default limited warranty cover anything??
