    Default Rs40,000 desktop buying guide

This Christmas, treat your self to a new desktop and get rid of that old P4 !! In india, we may not get great discounts like we get in the United States during Christmas, but hey , prices here for most products are not bad at all !!

He is a buyer's guide to build a full desktop on a budget. This PC can be used for some light gaming and is more than enough for all your multimedia needs. Here i have selected the best, value for money components for you PC.

    Processor :
AMD Phenom 2 550 BE (Dual core, 3.1GHz, 6MB L3 cache, unlocked multiplier) - This is a more Gamer specific choice, the user can unlock 2 more cores to make this a quad core, but that is you are lucky. Rs 4850

AMD Athlon 2 435 (Tri core, 2.9GHz, no L3 cache) - More than enough for all day to day applications and multimedia. Not bad at all for gaming too, just that the 550BE is slightly better for gaming as it has L3 cache. Rs 3900

    Motherboard:
Biostar TA790GXB : Really good board, lots of features and also has the potential for some core unlocking !! Rs 4500

If you don't need all the features on that board, save money and go for any good 785G based motherboard. There are just so many brands that its hard to pick one.

    Memory:
The GXB has DDR2 memory, which is not bad at all as in most of out applications, we don't really see any gains by using DDR3 memory.

    4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz - Corsair XMS2 RAM : Rs 4800

    Graphics Card:
ATI 4850 512MB: Still one of the best value for money cards, the 4850 still performs like a champ and you can play most games at high settings. At Rs 6500 its a really good deal.

    PSU:
Corsair VX 450 : Good PSU, got decent amps on the 12V and will be more than enough for our configuration. Rs 4200

    Cabinet:
Coolermaster Elite 335: Its a good looking cabinet with decent ventilation. Price is also good making it a good choice for our build. Rs 2200.

    Hard Disk:
500GB Western Digital : 500GB is fine for most, for those who feel they need more, you can just add more when you want, hard disks are that cheap now.
    Rs:2500.

    Optical Drive:
So many out there, pick any, for reference i will take a Sony DVD writer : Rs1200.

    Monitor :
BenQ 22" G2220HD LCD : Really good value for money monitor, it has a Full HD resolution (1920x1080) and 5ms response time. This looks really good and at a price of just Rs 8000, you cant really ask for more !

Total comes to around Rs38500, but you still need a keyboard and mouse. Prices may vary a bit from place to place.

40k is still a lot of money I was looking to spend something like 25k or 30k would the the max.
My sister got a new PC assembled with just the basic stuff and it cost her Rs14k without the screen and I find it to be faster then my own PC that supposidly has a much better processor and twice as much RAM...

I want a PC that would boot in 5 seconds flat and would shut down in less then 5 seconds

    Any suggestions?

^ Your wish is my command. Next budget build will be 25k .

Also, you can have a PC that boots in less than 3 seconds, but you will need an SSD for that, that alone will cost 14k
