    Default Core i7 980X

The core i7 980x is Intel's first every 32nm 6 core desk top processor. Its code name is Gulftown . Its going to be clocked at 3.33GHz and has 12MB of L3 cache. It would use the LGA 1366 socket (X58 motherboards). It uses triple channel memory just like the old i7's.

Its frequencies are the same as that of the i7 975. The QPI is set to 6.4GB/second. This CPU has 12 threads and has a TDP of 130W. It is scheduled to be released in march 2010, but it may take long for you to get your hands on it !!

Priced at $999 it will replace the i7 975 as their flagship processor. A few leaked samples of this were being sold on ebay at a price of $1200. AMD on the other hand does not have a real response anytime soon, their next line up is scheduled only in late 2010.

I am really trying hard to get a sample of this for some testing, lets hope i get 1 by the end of January !
