Post Budget Gaming PC - Feb 2010

I have seen many people asking for suggestions for a gaming PC under a budget of Rs35,000 so here is my effort to make their shopping easier.

Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 555BE : Fastest dual core around. Clocked at 3.2GHz it comes with an unlocked multiplier that makes overclocking really easy. It has 1MB of L2 cache and 6MB of L3 cache. For around Rs 4650 its a really good product. But, the best part is yet to be told

Motherboard: Biostar TA790GXBE : This is still among my favorite boards as it has really great features for a decent price. It has the SB750 chipset hence you can enable the disabled cores on the processor. Hence, you can turn your Phenom II x2 555 into a Quad core at 3.2GHz. Priced at around Rs 4800 its not going to hurt your pocket much.

Memory: 2x2GB Corsair DDR2 800MHz : I have the same set of RAMs and i have not had any problem with them. Price, well DDR2 is getting more expensive by the day but at this budget we really cant get some good DDR3 RAMs too. These will set you back around Rs4400 (i got them for Rs 2800 an year back).

Graphics Card: ATI 5750 1GB(DX11) or ATI 4870 512MB(DX10.1) : At this budget you cant get much better performance. You can either choose this DX11 card or you can get a faster older generation card like the ATI 4870 512MB for similar price. Problem with 4870 is the higher power consumption and heat but it also is much faster than the 5750 in terms of performance. Really hard to pick. I would go for the ATI 5750 as the 4870 may require a better PSU which may make the build more expensive. Price: Rs 8500.

PSU: Seasonic Bronze S12II 380Watt PSU: The PSU is probably the most neglected part of the whole system. Yet, it is a very important one. This PSU can easily power our system with the 5750 but I am not too sure if it can easily run a 4870. For the Price tag of Rs 2900 it does provide good featues like APFC and 80+ efficiency.

HDD and Optical drive: A 500GB seagate or Western Digital will be find for most. An optical dive, well just take any. The HDD costs around Rs2800 and the optical drive for Rs 1000.

Cabinet: I have a huge cabinet but now i see the advantages of small ones. Hence for our build i will recommend a relatively small cabinet. Its the cooler master elite 335. Looks clean and comes with a front 120mm fan. Add another one in the rear and you have good air flow. The cabinet costs Rs2200 in many local stores. The additional fan may cost you Rs500.

Monitor: BenQ 22" G2220HD LCD : Really good value for money monitor, it has a Full HD resolution (1920x1080) and 5ms response time. This looks really good and at a price of just Rs 7800, you cant really ask for more !

OK so we have overshot our budget a bit but i feel its worth it. If its a strict budget of Rs 35000, we can get ATI 4850 512MB which costs around Rs 6000. Its still a very good card and you can play all games at good quality.

Why do you want a cheap graphics card like a 9800GT...its pretty sad...also,for the case stick to coolermaster.....they are far better than TT.
