Finally, ATI released the long awaited card, the ATI HD 5830. Its a card meant to bridge the performance and price gap between the ATI 5770 and the ATI 5850.
Well, forget the leaked specs, they were wrong, here are the official specifications:
Shaders: 1120
Memory Bus width: 256bit
Core clock: 800MHz
Memory Clock: 1000MHz
Well, the above specs are not going to give you the full picture, there is a catch. The ROPs are cut down to 16 (32 in 5850).
So now, how does it compare with the other cards ? Its faster than the ATI 5770 for sure, but its a tad slower than the ATI 4890. Its was way slower than the 5850. I was really hoping it would be faster than the ATI HD 4890 as it could have been much much faster if it had not been crippled so much.
As for the price, its going for $220, which is a bit high i feel,but these prices are at launch and so will go down a bit after some time. When it is below the $200 mark, it would provide much better value. But as of now, its not really exciting.
