Default Computer on from long hours

    Hey!

I have the Unlimited plan so speed is less and i am downloading a big file(15GB).the speed is 30KBps max. so i have to keep my pc for i week it says.

1 week will consume much electricity.if i turn off my monitor and speakers and printer and only CPU,UPS and Modem are working then wouldn't it be excessive???
its already been 1 day since my pc is on!will it affect anything??

i have 450w PSU.How many units of electricity will be consumed in 1 day??

450W is the maximum power output from the PSU. That does not mean that the PC will consume that much power.

One cannot predict how much power will be consumed as every PC is different, even with the same CPU/hardware.

PC is practically idling with utorrent...

If you do this very regularly, just get a ATOM PC and use it as a download rig. Try undervolting in the BIOS to reduce power consumption, you can save as much as 10% from that.

Hmmm. Since he is running a server, he can hardly switch it off. Servers are made from different material. They are never meant to be shut off. They are more robust in their circuits, components, etc.

And besides, he lives in Sweden.

This is his own internet. I do not know about server but the server would be another as that cannot be so slow 100 Mbps.

He never switch off PC because he seed seed and seed .....
His average seeding speed is over 240+ KB/s from last 1 year. And having maximum upload speed of 1 MB/s.

One day when i was downloading a game of 5 GB and i was at 91 %. At that time there were 32 Seeders and 2 leechers and than came a leecher and he has downloaded that game in less than 10 min. with speed of over 10.2 MB/s. And after his download I was at 92 %..........
So think about the seeders uploading speed

Server processors are made of a special grade of silicon. They run cooler and consume less power than their desktop counterparts. Hence server chips are favored by the overclocking community too

    will try!
But instead i will try to increase my unlimited connection speed by giving My ISP some more money.

In my point, pc build now a days comes with ENERGY STAR that means it will use power when their is a work given for that unit..

In my PC, my Graphic card sucks 95w on gaming use from my 550 w PSU, and when in idle all the core speed will be reduced automatically and it will reduce the power consuption and hence saves my current bill and GPU life and psu life too...

Only Pc with old monitors and mobo will suck power like blood like devils do lol lol...

If ur house is 3Phase line then u can turn on speaker printers monitor and bla bla as u like...

The best is to use laptop, as it consumes very less energy compaired to Desktop.
That`s why I always download from 2 am to 8 am in Laptop.

Good to know that I have taken both the precautions.
I have 1mbps UL plan for 999 (which I think is the cheapest 1mb UL with no FUP) and I use two laptops for downloading (keep one working the first 24 hours then use the other for next 24 hours and then use the first one) torrents.(Different torrents on both of them)

Well I am a bit of that kind.

My PC used be on for 15 20 days in a row, even if I do end one session, I never really turn off my PC , only restart. That continued from the day I took my first net connection till I bought my laptop recently and moved to Noida.

Only thing that may(may) happen is that you will end up burning up your SMPS only in a worst case. My first SMPS gave up after 4 yrs due to extreme heat in Hyderabad.

    350 watts

AMD 64 1.8GHz(OC 2GHz) (I started overclocking from the first month itself)
    2.5GB RAM
    7600GS 512MB (GPU OC about 200MHz more - VRAM OC about 120MHz)
    80 + 250GB SATA
    20GB IDE
    Pinnacle tuner
    DVD RW
    DVD combo
    three 2.5" cooling fans
one manually fixed ball bearing fan fixed on GFX card
When I checked the power consumption, it would generally show about 160-180W and about 200watts while playing games(heaviest load) without the CRT.

For now my laptop stays on for 10-20 hrs normally.

I never said that I don't charge or anything, I only said that my laptop stays on.

    Please be polite.
