    Default Core i7 980X released

The Core i7 980X die shot

Intel Recently released their 6 core flagship processor, the Core i7 980X. This will now replace the i7 975 as the performance king. Clocked at 3.33Ghz, its the same clock speed as the i7 975,but this has 2 extra cores. With many reviews out on the net, there were mixed reactions to it.

There are huge performance gains in many, well threaded professional applications. 3D artists and hardcore Video editors would really benefit from the extra cores. But Gamers should just look away, there is not much advantage of the extra cores due to the lack of well optimized games.

One thing all don't like about it is its price, $999. Yes, agreed its an extreme series processor, but $999 for just the processor is far too much for almost anyone to spend.

Also,if you are a professional who would may need so many cores, with the Thuban making news, I would keep my money in pocket for the next few months just to see what they got to offer.
