In that price range, you will only get netbooks. Apart from that, have a look at this:

http://www.indiabroadband.net/laptop...r-netbook.html (MSI Wind U210 - The better netbook)

Its going to be better in terms of performance, but you will loose battery life.

@Mods/Admin: Please move this thread to appropriate section(Laptop).

With that budget, have a look at this:
    MSI X340 Slim

Much better than a netbook and really slim too. It looks like the Mac Book air (its just 1/5th the cost lol)

Single core should be fine for your needs. That laptop has a very good size and is pretty cheap too.

I think, atom processors are one is the option to get laptop from 15k to 18k. Acer 10" laptops are the best option for this budget to get value of ur money. I am also using atom processor latpop, but it cost me Rs. 21000/-. It is best for me to surfing net on way.

I agree with Pankajadv that Intel Atom is the best processor for netbooks. I am using an HP netbook that runs on Atom and I find it very good on performance and battery life. It still gives me 6 hours battery life after a year of purchasing it and nowadays they provide even more battery back up.

When you are purchasing a costly gadget like a netbook it is always better to trust an established brand like Intel.

    Lightbulb Go to flipkart.com

I suggest, go to flipkart.com, and choose as per your choice of hardware and price range among various brands.

Sort models by price range 'low to high'.

Sometimes, this does not display all the budget notebooks, as some may be out-of-stock.

But, for general information, you would want to see them. Clicking on Intel Atom and Intel Atom Dual in 'Processor' list - these are what budget notebooks have these days - shows you almost all, ranging from 12,000 to 18,500.

Also, search in AMD brazos / brazos dual core - a very good choice for budget, yet, performance computing. There are some in ASUS and TOSHIBA that have it along with a powerful budget graphics card.

MSI and WIPRO are lesser known, yet, definitely EXISTING! and very good brands. They build very very economical machines with very good hardware, sturdy outer built which is also STYLISH. See for yourself. Only thing they might not have would be the 'on-site' special warranty, though all have 'carry-in' freedom
