    have a look at this:

should give you a decent idea. Core i3 is not worth it IMO. You can go with the configuration as given in the above thread but with 4GB RAM instead of 2GB. What is your budget and needs?

    Default WD Caviar Green

Will you be using it for gaming as well? You also plan to watch vids and other media with it? Go for one with a large HDD capacity. Much better if its a eco-friendly like Western Digital's Caviar Green. I like it because aside from the large capacity, power consumption is lesser as compared to other high capacity HDD. Hope this helps.

i prefer using intel. For the moment anyway, Intel's dual and quad core processors are the king of the heap. In particular, the companies Core 2 Duo/Quad processor lineup is out-pacing AMDs current Athlon64 X2/FX processor families..

Its pretty close, the difference is not very noticeable in most cases. Generally, i5s are faster but the processor is more expensive and even the platform costs are higher in case of i5.

Yeah i5 costs 40-50 % more than Phenom X4 while there is a meagre difference in performance
Also Intel Motherboards are slightly expensive

I guess when it comes to a price wise comparison, it should be thuban(1055T) that should be compared with i5(750 only 1 that beats phenom 965 BE).Now that would put AMD on top...

Go to eBay and type some of your requirements in to its search engine.
