RAM timings or latency is set of relative timings based on clock cycles they are denoted as CL-Trcd-Trp-TR

Trcd(Row to column add Delay) is the time to open up a row if it is currently not theactive row being read in the RAM

CL(CAS Latency) is the time between accessing the column once the row is already active and the data being available at output pin.

Trp( Row Precharge time) is the time delay between precharging and opening a new Row

The worst case delay to read data is Trp+CL+Trcd which would be Tras(Random access strobe time).

when comparing a 2-2-2-6 400 mhz ram with a 5-5-5-15 800mhz RAM think of the absolute times which are nearly same coz clock doubled..and hence nt much of a peformance improvement.. But aggresively timed RAM's are available for enthusiasts (4-4-4-12 1066 Mhz DDR3!!!)

    not true mate.

It depends on the applications, the 800MHz RAM would be much better when you see load times in games and other similar applications.

also, enthusiasts would go for more speed than 1066MHz lol. I think i have see 2533MHz at CL9 ? for overclockers mostly....

Yeah there would be a small difference

transfer rate = (memory clock rate) × (for bus clock multiplier) × 2 (for data rate) × (number of bits transferred) / 8 (number of bits/byte).

But only when the entire Bandwidth is used would you see a significant difference

Just gave an example... are u referring the Dominatrix!!!
