Default Which configuration is better?crossfire or a single high end card?

Just wanted to know that does crossfire/sli really deserve that amount of money or the money is better to put in single high end card like 5870 or gtx470?

Well i think so you finally GOT a HD4870 because you are looking for one..

As per today, getting a crossfire motherboard is the must, so that you can hock up any HD5800 series card in a system..
Putting an High end card like HD5870 saves u money and power consumption compared to crossfire or sli setup...

Just an example if you are going buy a sli setup which is in the price point of Gtx470..
2x Gtx260 cost near by Rs23,000 for that you can get an Gtx470 as a single GPU and it will perform equal to the sli setup...

    Default @bonda

i was able get 1gb version for rs.6500.

So after your review,i think single card is better.
so i will keep my 4870 as long as a game comes to show that this card isn't enough.

Also in cf/sli a higher wattage psu is required and secondly it saves a few bucks on motherboard.
so i think single card solution is better for gamers on budget like me.

    Thanks for replying.

My HD3850 was released on 2007 itslef and now only games like Batman AA has this card in Max requirements...

    Off Topic

yes and may be more because the games like crysis and farcry2 is not able to bring this card to knees.
and second good thing is that the game requirements have started coming low. Thanks to DX11.crysis 2 is a good example with lower requirements than that of crysis.
i asked the question to know if cf/sli doubles the fps with dual cards or single high end is better?

recently i traded my 4850 512mb for rs.3800.i will tell you if i find like that.or you can try ebay.in and ebay.com(international).recently there were 2 4850 1g and 512 mb were available on ebay.in both under 5k.
currently someone on ebay is selling 8800gtx for 6k.

Two words : Power consumption and Price.. both work against a cross fire/SLI setup. But there are cases where it might make sense to go for a cross fire setup like say you have a 4870 already... now instead of buying a 4890 have a 4870 crossfire...

But going for a cross fire setup straight wouldn't be that rewarding ..as the price margin will greatly overshadow the performance margin!!..

the crossfire is pretty superior, but it depends on how you use it
