of course USB powered , they are costly though!!

of course the usb one.but as gromhellscream has said already, its costly.
but i would suggest internal+case.reason is -
1. less cost
2.when you have to copy/move more than 20 gb data(>100 gb in my case), usb HDD is a bad option as will take the whole day. what i do is, i use my usb case hdd as a usb upto 10 gb.anything more than that, i just unscrew it(2 screws) and connect it using sata cable.100 gb copied in just 12 mins.

Can you please suggest a good case. I was using one from Zebronics. It got some problem and I am not able to use my 500 GB HDD. When I enquired at shop, they are offering one from Intex. Is there any alternative. Please suggest.

I was able to connect my 500 GB hard disk by connecting through USB port for around 3 months. Then later, even though plugged in, the drive was absent in " My computer ". My PC is IDE not SATA, so checked in a friend's computer. He was able to connect without the case. But with case, it is not detecting. I am planning to buy one from Intex.

are you sure it is pata?coz a 500 gb pata is very rare.when did you buy it?
if it is a 500 gb pata, it must have cost a fortune.

tech-com also makes pata cases.i don't know about intex coz i have never seen one.

HDD is 500 GB SATA. Cost me around Rs. 3,500 around 8 months back. I was told the case is the one which is not working. Will try Intex case and check. Thanks.

i want to buy hd 500gb from deltapage but to my surprise it says no cables is included ... do we have to buy extra cables.

cales are there in the mobo pack
otherwise u gotta buy them
