    Some suggestions:
    • You should look to get a good mo-bo and quad-core CPU. Look out for AMD series for good bargains. Intel CPUs are a shade better for video processing but that difference is apparent to a very professional video master only.
    • Memory is cheap. Try to go for the most memory - opt for minimum 4 GB.
    • HDD is also cheap. Know that difference between 250GB HDD and 1 TB HDD is not 4 times.
    • Your 19" TFT should be re-usable - so no need to buy another one. That alone knocks off about 9K.
    • If you use the PC to make video clips, etc., there is no need to buy a high-end/powerful GFX card. Even 1 GB memory card is not required. A card costing Rs. 4K should work for you.
    • Media ports: USB ports are sufficient in most cases. If budget permits, look for IEEE/1394 port also.
*** Never argue with an idiot. ***

    Hi guys

thank you so much for your advice
    I am really impressed.
This forum sounds really good and helpful

Guys, I think my 19TFP has some problem too
My PC also has start up problem and it never starts with one go.
I blame my Monitor for this
Because it goes blank givng messages like
'Freq. out of range..set it to bla bla bla' when this happen
it will not work unless I switch power off not from my PC but from my
UPS Powercom and I had this problem almost since begining
My monitor already st to the max freq yet it will not work.
Sometime it will not light up but attempting to light up but light/display never comes on it own unless I feedle with the monitor buttons
    This is all too much

So I guess My monitor has a problem too.
PC and monitor was from ZENITH brand (will never go for it again)

So guys, should I go for Branded or assembled
I am based in Goa and not very familiar with the dealers/agents etc

    thanks again

    @JoeGoaUk
Please give the correct details of your Zenith PC
with model number, to check in web detailed specifications.
If 19tft monitor is 4 years old, may need replacement. or the video card can be upgraded.
Have you checked the Resale value for your present PC?
Do you have OS CD XP Home or Pro? to upgrade to Windows 7 will cost another Rs 6000/= or so.
I feel, you should go for a Brand name Desktop computer rather than
try the assembled one from dealer.
( Brand name computer's: With free service guarantee for at least a year. )

See Post No 2 again for suggestions./.

You hardly would get 2k for this
use it somewhere else instead if its in working condition

You will save 30% money if you opt for a assembled pc with 3yrs damage cover

None of these configs look impressive for the 45-50 k you are shelling out.. and mention the names of NVDIA cards, and individual prices..

    Intel i3, original m/b-5300+3700 10,000/-
    4 gb ram(if DDr 1333) (transcend) 4700/-
    500 gb HDD(Seagate) 1900/-
DVD writer with speaker (if 2.1) 1100+2200(3300)
Nvidia IGb graphic(mention it) (sub 5000 range i think)
    USB keyboard/mouse 1000
I -bal cabinet with SMPS 2000(max)
    UPS 600Va (APC) 1875
    I year warranty
    OS Window 7 prem. xxx

Now that comes to 28k, Add Warranty(1500), and Windows(6500) (i suggest get CD from friends) u gain 14 k.. any way this config is bad..i used this just to show you the price difference.. if you want a better configuration just reply or use the one rajan suggested.

This configuration is for a tight 50 k budget.

    AMD Phenom2 x4 955(BE) 7950
    ASUS M4A78STD-V-EVO 5900
    DDR3 4GB(0CZ 1333) 5200
    UPS 1550
    Monitor (22" Samsung) 8150
    Sata 1 TB 3100
    XFX 5670 6650
    Cabinet(CM 690) 3800
CM Real Power Pro 460W 3600
    DVD Drive 1100
    Creative Inpsire 2.1 2100
    KeyBoard 400
    Mouse 500

This comes to a sharp 50,000.. you do a little bargaining a might get it cheaper.. I have included OCZ RAM, a nice cabinet and a good SMPS for future upgrade. Don't overlook a a good cabinet. You can also choose 5770 which is good or NVDiA GTX 460(768 MB) which comes at 10700. But just for video editing they are not required. Infact you can also go down and get a GT250( but i wud refrain from doing that if i were you)

Creative 2.1 is 2 speaker +1 woofer sound system.

XFX is a graphics card manufacturer, XFX 5670 is ATI radeon 5670 manufactured by them.

CM real power pro is a Cooler master SMPS that gives 460 W of power. This will useful when you upgrade your system later.
