    Default Ram Query !!

    I bought G-Skill Ripjaws 4GB (2*2GB) (240-pn DDR3 SDRAM (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM) 10 days back...and its working fine.

But today one of my friend said ...ur ram is running at 1.6V, it may burn your proccessor. (as ur processor are for 1.5 V rams). Is that so ???

    I have MSI 890gxm-g65 and AMD Phenom IIx6 1055t

I don't understand your friends reasoning.. RAM running at 1.6 V burning a processor!! Don't even bother dude, that's a nice setup you got.. what graphics have you got?

the reasoning is valid, it could damage the IMC, thats why you get kits at 1.5V now....

DDR 3 is rated @ 1.8V and the IMC should be fine with that voltage, in fact a 0.2 V addition should also not hurt.

that DDR3 memory is not meant to be used for core i7 and P2 imo....its probably pretty old which can be used on the Core 2 series chips..

My bad.. JEDEC standards for DDR3 RAM is 1.5V and can go up to 1.575V.

But The IMC would still sustain a 1.8V without any problems.
