Thread: Graphic Card Issue

I am having an issue regarding graphic card ..

one day an awful burnt smell was coming from cpu .. so i turn off the pc and after while I on it again but the pc started to shut down automatically.
i open and found that my ati 4670 was burnt and the fan was lying on one corner, so my question is what cause the gc to burnt?

(after removing the gc i can switch my pc to life again)

You didn't mention the age of the card and it's use.2yrs ago my SMPS got burned(almost same case like u)NOW WHO ON EARTH CAN I BLAME EXCEPT MY FATE...

This is electronic and the country is India.The cause is probably some kind of voltage problem in the Motherboard or the card was gone out.Get ur system checked and serviced by a pro.Then go to a shop AND Buy a new one......

P.S. I use Gigabyte build motherboard with Intel inbuilt graphics card coz the cost was low.1GB

i bought my card on May 2009 but i wonder what it may cause ... anyway i m planning to buy a new one so i have ordered and pick ATI 5670.

But my PSU is Frontech 450 wtts .so will my psu tackle 5670.

Help needed .....

how could you use that 500 bucks unreliable frontech psu
these psu (all cheap ones) will burn at the slightest load
they never supply 450w, thats the peak they can do, they will burn if they run at 450 for even a minute

that ati 5670 you chose wah wah

corsair VX450W @3700 should do it but i would recommend a corsair VX550 W @ 4800

PS: i use a frontech 500w(two 12V rails) but i dont use a gpu so the risk is way below

Can i do something from this poor card like playing fifa 11 for 15-20 min in a day without fan as my new one will arrive shortly within 6-7 days or is it risk taking !!!

dont risk it again,just stay put for a few days and throw away that frontech smps

i think a corsair vx450 can take the load but amd reco crsiar vx550 min.dunno why.check it out.

its a a 70% 350W CM
though it will boot your computer it might fail during heavy loads+low supply voltages
you know how it is,its just simple luck

you can just get an FSP Saga II 350W PSU for Rs1500...the Corsair CX430 is not good, i would not recommend it...

As for getting the card to work, get 1 90mm fan, 4 cable ties and attach that fan to your card....if there was not permanent damage done to the card, it will work fine....

Guys -I think most of you are avid gamers and passionate about Graphics card.
My need is a Multi monitor set up to watch and trade financial markets. ( No browsing,music,movies,chat,mail allowed in this pc. It will open only the brokers trading platform and not even browser use much (only for updates may be) ( Just to stay clear of any virus !)

I was thinking of Intel I5 chip+
motherboard ( should have slot provision for a second similar VGA card to make it 4 monitor set up later on )
+ 4 Gb ram +
1 TB hard disk
+NVS 290 Vga card ( 2 DVI out put)-OR suggest a budget priced slightly older ( My graphics needs are only 20% of a gamer) 1Gb graphics card with 2 DVI in a budget
+value for money power supply + box (big enough for expansion (2 graphic cards to drive 4X22" LCD's)
Is AMD heat problem is no more?Will I get better money's worth (with out too much noise or hassle) with AMD chip+MB+ Radeon card
or stick to Intel + Nvidia card combo ?

i would really be thankful if u would have come earlier .. but anyway now the ati 5670 is on the way .. ordered from mediahome.
but the dealer is getting delay for psu as it is out of stock .... so which psu will be a good mate for ATI 5670

p.s only the fan was damaged.

the shop from where did i buyed it he did not gave me any driver cd he just installed it ...now just 2 days before my pc got corrupted and i formatted my pc and d shop owner is not giving me any drivers
so i want drivers for ati radeon b629.....

go to device manager,display adapter ...

or type dxdiag on start menu then go to display tab n device ..

u can try by going to display by right clicking on the empty desktop,then setting,advanced,adapter,n if u have internet u can update from properties and update driver ..

try it n let me know ...
