Namecheap and Godaddy. They are the best in the business. You can buy a domain for as low as $5 per year.

Godaddy, is even better now, faster and cheaper, I've been using it for two years now.

If you are going to start a new website and are planning to buy a domain, I will suggest you not to search for a cheap domains provider. Whenever, you are searching for a hosting or domain provider. Firstly, Check some reviews about them on Google. After that compare their plans with other providers. If they are providing good services at very cheap rate. Then, I have to say that It will not be a good idea to choose them. Who knows if they find any problem in their business and take it down permanently. All of the efforts will be lost forever.
