Question Buying Desktop, Is This Config: Enough...??? Suggestions Needed.

    Hi,

Planning to buy a Desktop PC for Home and Gaming Purpose, made my own configuration through search, suggestions and prices(not from NET becoz actual prices may vary, u know) needed.

I've read all previous topics and discussions regarding PC's and got stuck in selecting a processor(Intel/AMD).
In fact i have a HCL Desktop PC with AMD Athlon XP+ 1.9Ghz, Gigabyte Mobo. I would like to re-configure it with the new config:, is this possible..(Can I use my old cabinet with the new config ? does new Mobo's fit ) Suggestions Needed.

    1) Intel core i5 2500 (i found a lot in i5 series confused ,can suggest even though i mentioned 2500 can it be used for 5-10 yrs)
    2) 4GB DDR III.
    3) 1 TB HDD.
    4) DVD-RW.
    5) 19'' LED.

Although i made my own config through search, expert suggestions welcome.

    Thanks,
    Srijith.

for gaming purposes graphics card is the most important factor.more demanding the game(like crysis)& bigger the screen more powerful the graphics card should be.for 19" led screen though any good mid level graphics card ~8k will do for most games but not sure about whether it can run all with all the eye candy options enabled at max setting(like highest level AA etc).

core i5-2xxx series comes with latest intel HD graphics 3000(as opposed to HD 2000 on older models)but it shouldn't matter for those going for a graphics card.also 5-10 yrs is a very long time in processor market since any processor gets outdated in terms of speed within 2 years for same price.it all depends on your usage.

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

My budget is 20-25k, and would like to go for AMD...Suggest a good config.
Though i'm not an Extreme Gamer, so no need of a HD graphic card but would like to have a powerful processor for Multitasking and normal gaming/movies/music...etc

    Thanks.

    AMD Athlon II x3 445-----3400
    MSI 880GM-E35 mobo-----3500
    Corsair 4GB DDRIII 1333MHz----1900
    MSI HD6770 1GB GDDR5-----7200
    Corsair VX450 PSU------3500

good graphics card also helps in hd video playback especially of high bit rates.

Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 is much better in terms of features for just rs.250 more.it has esata port & most importantly it has usb 3.0 port(much faster than current usb 2.0) which you won't find in any asus mobo for less than 5800.you can buy usb 3.0 portable hard disks for not much more than normal usb2.0 portable hard disks & will get approx. twice read/write speeds.

Default plz help with i7 config

hi i am living at chennai and need help with following

    Reason for upgrading
    :Heavy Gaming,PS2 emulation,recording(FRAPS+game)

pc will be on overclocked condition(3.6-4 GHZ) 24/7 will be used for gaming 2-6 hours depending on holiday/college

    parts that I already have

    graphics card - 460 GTX (1GB)

    HDD - 500 GB

parts I need help on for purchasing

processor - core i7 decided (920 or better and cheaper?)

motherboard - X58 or cheaper and better?

    RAM
    - DDR3(2 or 4 or 6 or 8 GB?) and frequency(800 or1333 or 1600Mhz?)

SMPS - cooler master 600W (i am guessing i need more power )

extra cooling needed - no idea about this (i got air conditioner in my room but it can get pretty hot some days and cannot be on 24/7 like the pc) i prefer using stock cooler with overclock(no change/very little in voltage upto 4 Ghz or less)

i would like know how much it will cost for purchasing

also do i really need over clocking or turbo boost+hyper threading @ stock speed will satisfy all my needs stated above

    thx in advancefor ur help
