But the best thing is you don't have to wait for some else to come and do it. and you can do it at ur leisure..

ya thats the best part of it that all the assembled PC users knows more than the branded PC holders coz they have faced more problems than them......

Even i had a problem in my previous outside-warrently- branded PC, i could'nt remove all components since the casing was kinda "drilled" on all sides and oly once side could be opened.

In the end i had to "cut" all the drills and throw away the cabinet as well.

i guess with assembled u get the freedom u wanted in lilmited price....infact i will prefer assembling with my own hand. That way u get some basic knowledge regarding h/w stuff. By the way wht branded ppl do is assembling only......only they differ in quality/quantity of assembling.

I am still on the very same side which says branded system is far much better then assembled one, coz in branded you really need not to worry about any individual part for replacement or gurantee, everything is covered on a sinle paper only and whenever you face any problem you get a educated and qualified professional to deal with your problem not a local service boy who only knows how to assemble parts and install windows.

if you need something good and reliable then better idea is to go for a branded system, i know its bit expensive then assembled system but still a better option.

i said that in very loud and clear tone

yes i agree that assembled computers are far much cheaper than branded computers but most of the times they come with a bundle of problems and after that you will not find anyone taking ownership of the fault/ problem, vendor will blame manufacturer and manufacturer will tell you to contact vendor. so to cut down this strange loop better idea is to go for a branded system only

Definitely assemble it myself. You can not get the flexibility to choose the right brands of all the components in a branded computer. I'm pretty particular about what type of RAM I want, the CL values on it. Then the model of MB, CPU steppings, etc

Also assembling it yourself is much cheaper

yes please i agree assembling yourself is much more cheaper than branded system and it gives you a very flexible choice of config but i am suggesting branded system for light users and you can say normal users who are not very techie or something

    Isn't that obvious? :P
If they don't know how to assemble it then how will they assemble it? lol

The only problem with assembled ones is that you get a pirated system of your OS by default (unless you specifically ask for a genuine one) which starts giving problems after 1-2 years (WGA & stuff).

i would personally go for an assembled pc.simply because nowadays components are so cheap that great pcs can be assembled at amazing prices.

Vendors do take the precaution of installing pirated OSes on the premises of the buyer. Hence the vender is thus excused from the fact that they "installed" pirated OS.

I voted for the assembed one

There are two factors which depends on this decision

--You are well versed and know what is what and what is the best for you then go for the assembled ones, and on the other hand
--You are new to this computer (angrezi machines), then definitely go for the assembled one

I know plenty of people opting for assembled pcs, burely based on cost factor and without doing their necessary homework.

This is a never ending thread. Have we reached a conclusion yet ? IMO its this :

    1) Branded PC - For those who dont have time to do research and dont mind spending a bit more. Those people who need security can go 4 this too.

    2) Assembled PC - For those who care abt Bang4buck and have at least some basic knowledge abt the various computer parts.

I can still remember when one of my distant relative had purchased a HP branded PC @65,000, at that time the cost of the Assembled PC with the same configuration was 35,000 only.

I had asked him that why he didnt gone for the cheaper assembled one, he had replied "Branded PC are Balanced PC".

After one year when i visited his home i saw all the Balance was out.
he had already changed the HDD two times, his CD drive, printer etc were all in repairing condition............

but the catch is, if it was original hp, all the changes and repairs would have been free, and done by hp, as it was still in warranty..
so he could save all those extra costs, ryt?

My Best opinion for you that you will in good deal when you will purchase a assembled PC because you will get all of your suitable configuration which you desire but in branded PC's you will get in very high prices.

one has to be careful while buying assembled pcs
i think if you buy from a known seller,or somebody you know personally, its good.although i am for assembled pcs,i think a new buyer should buy a branded pc only.

Doesn't matter so much if the buyer is new.Everyone starts off with less knowledge & grows as he uses/experiences it.
I think if you are a new buyer & the dealer who's assembling the PC is not so well-known to you, you can always get some friends/acquaintances who are more familiar with configuration etc.
Have a lok at what they have & if they're satisfied with it, then go for a similar model.

i always prefer assembled pcs ...

    reasons:

    1) costs less

    2) gives more flexibility in terms of options for different components ..

    3) better if u assemble it urself ... newbies can gain real confidence in cases of minor & common hardware problems ...
