Thread: Do You Prefer Branded Or Assembled Desktop?

if a newbie gets it ryt the first tym,it really will boost some confidence.but if he gets it wrong lots of money will be wasted.
i believe new people should not experience with hardware,when their own money is at stake...

i still stick with branded pcs for newbies!!

how money will be wasted? maybe he wont get it right at the first try ... he can always consult some expert if he faces some doubt ...

it only happens when he got the wrong RIG .....so before buying a custom RIG for the 1st time when u r just a noob try to take some suggestion from ne engg.

when i bought my first pc some 10 years back,i didnt have any clue..
the engineer we had always used to keep something missing to come back again and again, and charge for it.now i know how wewere mildly cheated.
if service was honest and ddicated,i would certainly go for it.but unless people are bound by warranty and service rules,like branded pc sellers are, nothing happens!!

those days are mostly over ... i have seen many people being cheated like this. thats why i said - users should do some study & research and assemble the pc themselves

i think that is the best thing to do.people should research before buying there pc.whether it is branded or assembled,one should always make sure that they have gne through every possible option.sometimes a branded pc may just be the solution.sometimes assembling a pc may be best..

1) costs less

2) gives more flexibility in terms of options for different components ..

3) better if u assemble it urself ... newbies can gain real confidence in cases of minor & common hardware problems ...

I guess these 3 points are enough to convince most. The rest, just go for a branded PC.

thats the reason i go for assembeld PC and i suggest all of the folks to go for assembeld PC, and besides they know i am the person that has updated info on latest tech. so they always take my suggestions and so far every1 is happy
and myself too had gained exp. in troubleshooting my own pc, coz i don't loose warranty when i expose my PC as opposed to branded ones which needs their OWN engineer to open up the case (sux).

tell u one incident, i was at my mom's office which has a HP desktop, i wanted to attach mah sata HDD and copy some stuff to that PC and then transfer that stuff to another HDD, so i had to open up the case, i went to the backside of the cabby and to my surprise, there was a ******* GUARANTEE STICKER applied by an HP engineer with his sign on it and i was like WTF! then i carefully removed the sticker and did my job and then closed the cabby. so now i wanted to check if everything is working fine or not, i booted the PC and it started giving 'BEEP' i was like oce again WTF! then after fiddling around with BIOS i came across this option "give warning on opening the cabby" (or something like that) so i disabled it and then wen to OS, shut it down, then again rebooted the PC and went to BIOS and set it to default. finally peace of mind. then, glued the sticker(and it was magically done well, even i wouldn't recognize that the sticker was removed).
so, hence, for me, BRANDED PC's = SUXETH, ASSEMBLED = FTW!

and even if someone wants to get his pc assembled by an engineer , he/she should do some research before going to the engineer. one must not sound a completely hardware-unaware person to them. they cheat these people the most

i prefer assembled because they are cheaper and we can get what we want.

i prefer for the assembled system.

The only assembled pc Ive ever bought was back in 1999 when I paid a fortune for it and the branded ones were out of reach for me at that time but these days branded ones have got a lot cheaper and they also come with a warranty.

I agree with you. and DELL is good as you can customize it.

i purchased an HCL... though my friends told me to buy an assembled one...

i was getting a CRT which i changed for a TFT screen giving away around 2.5 k more to the HCL seller guy...

i assemble my own pc so i have to say assembled

Most of the companies, using branded PC only and we all knows there performances. I preferred assembled only because in same cost we can choose the best Parts/configs, best in terms of personal requirements

i guess for me assemble pc's are good if you know how to do the job...but since im still new and not familiar with this i think i will opt for buying a branded one..which of course i already done..no regrets though..

With the times, I prefer an assembled one even though I could build it off myself. I had a bad experience with individual parts giving me headaches when building.

i mostly prefer assembled because we can select that what we to buy in different companies so i preferred assembled than branded

I think assembled PC will be better option if you have good knowledge of computer hardware .....

the choice depends on how much customisation one needs, money able to spend, and intel or amd,
becoz amd branded are not easily available..
